In this context, brown algae stand out for having in their extracts compounds with antioxidant activity such as fucoidans, phlorotannins, fucoxanthin, and laminaria. This review summarizes the main research into important metabolites found during the analysis of brown algae, as well as performing evaluation of antioxidant activity, both in vitro and in vivo, of bioactive compounds from brown seaweed.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[RESUMEN Recientemente, ha ido en aumento la búsqueda de antioxidantes naturales para la creación de nuevos fármacos y/o potenciadores de fármacos. En este contexto, las algas pardas se destacan por tener en sus extractos compuestos con actividad antioxidante como fucoidanos, florotaninos, fucoxantina y laminaria. Esta revisión resume las principales investigaciones sobre metabolitos importantes encontrados durante el análisis de algas pardas, así como la evaluación de la actividad antioxidante, tanto in vitro como in vivo, de compuestos bioactivos de algas pardas.]]></p></abstract>
