Para ello se aplicaron procedimientos químicos certificados como ICP-OES y fotometría de llama y se determinaron varios parámetros físico-mecánicos, de acuerdo con las normas establecidas. Se constató alto contenido de CaCO3 en el mármol blanco (99,02 %), así como la baja proporción del resto de los componentes. De acuerdo con la resistencia a la flexión y a la triturabilidad, se descartó su uso para la construcción de pavimentos o similares y agregados de hormigones para tráfico pesado. Sin embargo, el resto de los parámetros son comparables a otros mármoles, por lo cual puede ser utilizado para un gran número de aplicaciones comerciales.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT In this work, a proposal of applications was made for the white marble of the Sierra de La Gran Piedra, Santiago de Cuba, Altos de Mapú manifestation, based on its chemical composition and physical-mechanical characteristics. For this, certified chemical procedures such as ICP-OES and flame photometry were applied and various physical-mechanical parameters were determined, in accordance with the established standards. A high content of CaCO3 was found in the white marble (99,02 %), as well as a low proportion of the rest of the components. According to the resistance to bending and crushability, its use for the construction of pavements or similar and concrete aggregates for heavy traffic was ruled out. However, the rest of the parameters are comparable to other marbles, so it can be used for a large number of commercial applications.]]></p></abstract>
