A escala rural ofrece múltiples beneficios a sus usuarios. En el presente trabajo se recopilan aspectos teóricos de las tecnologías de producción de biogás a escala rural teniendo en cuenta su principio de funcionamiento y parámetros de operación, además se aborda el sistema de eliminación de sulfuro de hidrógeno para la purificación del biogás y el uso final del mismo. Se incluyen indicadores para los biodigestores más difundidos en Cuba: el &#8220;Biodigestor de tapa fija o de tipo &#8220;chino&#8221;, el &#8220;biodigestor de campana flotante o de tipo hindú&#8221;, el &#8220;biodigestor tubular o de bolsa de polietileno&#8221; y el &#8220;Biodigestor híbrido cubano&#8221;. Estos difieren en cuanto a sus costos de inversión, sus parámetros de operación y sus impactos ambientales. Se propone un documento que agrupa los biodigestores difundidos en Cuba, para potenciar la toma de decisiones sobre el tipo de tecnología a utilizar a escala rural.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT Anaerobic digestion has been an economically viable process for the cyclic use of organic waste. At the rural scale, it offers multiple benefits to its users. In the present work, the theoretical aspects of biogas production technologies are systematized at a rural scale, taking into account its operation principle and operating parameters, as well as the hydrogen sulfide elimination system for the biogas purification and its final use. Indicators for the most widespread biodigesters in Cuba are included: the &#8220;fixed cover or chinese type digester&#8221;, the &#8220;floating bell or hindu type digester&#8221;, the &#8220;tubular or polyethylene bag digester&#8221; and the &#8220;hybrid cuban digester&#8221;. These differ in terms of their investment costs, their operating parameters and their environmental impacts. It is proposed a material that group biodigesters disseminated in Cuba, to improve the decision making on the type of technology that will be used at rural level.]]></p></abstract>
