Es una prioridad la investigación y desarrollo de tecnologías de biorremediación de residuos petrolizados. El Centro de Estudios Ambientales de Cienfuegos, de conjunto con el Instituto de Ciencias del Mar y el Instituto de Investigaciones Suelos, ejecutan el proyecto nacional "Evaluación de la ecotecnología de biopilas para la biorremediación de residuos petrolizados utilizando texturizantes locales". La determinación de la forma y tamaño de las unidades experimentales constituyó una demanda científica de la investigación a escala de banco. El objetivo fue diseñar y montar las unidades experimentales de biopilas a escala de banco para evaluar la eficacia de la biorremediación de residuos petrolizados. Se realizó el estudio del estado del arte. Se consideraron criterios de diseño de la ecotecnología, los requerimientos del diseño de experimentos, y las características del polígono experimental. Se adoptó la forma de pirámide truncada. Se programó un libro de cálculos Excel para realizar el balance de masa a nivel de unidad experimental y determinar sus dimensiones. El montaje de las unidades experimentales corroboró la validez del diseño ingeniero. Se aportó una solución ingeniera a una demanda científica de la investigación, que se aplicó a escala de banco y se generalizará en el escalado de la ecotecnología.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT Oil pollution is a national problem. Research and development of bioremediation technologies for petroleum waste is a priority. The Center for Environmental Studies of Cienfuegos, together with the Institute of Marine Sciences and the Institute of Soil Research, are executing the national project "Evaluation of biopile ecotechnology for bioremediation of petroleum waste using texturizers". The determination of the shape and size of the experimental units constituted a scientific demand for bench-scale research. The aim was to design and to assemble the experimental biopile units on a bench-scale to evaluate the effectiveness of bioremediation of petroleum waste. Was carried out the study of the state of the art. Were considered the design criteria of the ecotechnology, the requirements of the design of experiments, and the characteristics of the experimental site. Was adopted the shape of a truncated pyramid. Was programmed an Excel workbook to perform the mass balance at the experimental unit level and determine its dimensions. The assembly of the experimental units confirmed the validity of the engineering design. An ingenious solution was provided to a scientific demand for research, which was applied on a bench-scale and will become generalized in the scale-up of ecotechnology.]]></p></abstract>
