Este es un material excepcional, tanto desde el punto de vista de la investigación en física fundamental, como desde el punto de vista de sus aplicaciones prácticas. El grafeno ocupa un lugar destacado en la ciencia, y las diferentes investigaciones realizadas están permitiendo abrir nuevas vías al desarrollo de materiales funcionales. En este trabajo, se analiza la estructura de este interesante compuesto. También, se describen las propiedades químicas, eléctricas, mecánicas y térmicas. Por otro lado, analizan los métodos empleados para su síntesis y las técnicas utilizadas para su caracterización. Por último, se aborda su importancia en la creación de nuevos materiales con propiedades mejoradas; así como sus diversas aplicaciones en diferentes áreas de la ciencia y la tecnología. Estas propiedades, también hacen que el grafeno sea el material ideal para ser aplicado, no solo en el campo de la electrónica; sino también la medicina, farmacéutica, energía, entre otras. Dichas propiedades, se verán ampliamente beneficiadas de este novedoso nanomaterial bidimensional.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT Among the carbon-based compounds is graphene. This is an exceptional material, both from the point of view of fundamental physics research and from the point of view of its practical applications. Graphene occupies a prominent place in science, and the different research carried out is opening up new avenues for the development of functional materials. In this work, the structure of this interesting compound is analyzed. In addition, the chemical, electrical, mechanical and thermal properties are described. On the other hand, the methods used for its synthesis and the techniques used for its characterization are analyzed. Finally, its importance in the creation of new materials with improved properties is discussed, as well as its various applications in different areas of science and technology. These properties also make graphene the ideal material to be applied not only in the field of electronics, but also in medicine, pharmaceuticals, energy, among others. These properties will benefit greatly from this novel bidimensional nanomaterial.]]></p></abstract>
