<self-uri xlink:href="http://scielo.sld.cu/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&amp;pid=S2224-79202020000100044&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://scielo.sld.cu/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&amp;pid=S2224-79202020000100044&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://scielo.sld.cu/scielo.php?script=sci_pdf&amp;pid=S2224-79202020000100044&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen  Antecedentes:  El objetivo de este estudio fue caracterizar la bacteria CIGBTb aislada de huevos de Tricostrongylus respecto a sus propiedades biocontroladoras de nematodos y sus posibles mecanismos de acción mediante ensayos en maceta, ensayos in vitro y la detección de sus atributos patogénicos.  Métodos  Se caracterizó la cepa por métodos moleculares y convencionales. La efectividad contra nematodos y el efecto sobre el crecimiento vegetal se evaluaron en macetas con Solanum lycopersicum plants var UC-8213. A los 40 días se determinó el índice de infestación, el número de agallas, la longitud y la masa de las ramas y las raíces y el número de huevos por masa. Se evalúo el efecto sobre la eclosión de huevos de Haemonchus spp. y Meloidogyne spp. in vitro. Se empleó ANOVA y prueba de Duncan para comparar los datos.  Resultados Sphingobacterium sp. CIGBTb inhibió la eclosión de los huevos de Haemonchus spp. en un 100 % y de Meloidogyne spp en un 87 %. También disminuyó significativamente el número de nódulos radiculares en Solanum lycopersicum en un 58 %, el número de huevos por masa en un 53 % y promovió el crecimiento de Solanum lycopersicum en 0,59 veces con respecto al control. No se encontraron informes de otras cepas de este género con actividad nematicida y estimulante del crecimiento vegetal simultáneamente.  Conclusiones  CIGBTb podría permitir el control biológico de nematodos al reducir no solo la eclosión de los huevos sino también el número de huevos por masa.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract  Background:  The aim of this study was to characterize bacterium CIGBTb, isolated from eggs of Tricostrongylus due to its nematode bio-controlling activity, and possible action mechanisms, through pot and in vitro trials, and the detection of its pathogenic attributes.  Methods:  The strain was characterized by molecular and conventional methods. Its effectiveness against nematodes and effect on plant growth were evaluated in pots containing Solanum lycopersicum plants var UC-8213. At 40 days, the infestation index, number of galls, stem and root length and mass, and the number of eggs per mass, were determined. The effects of Haemonchus spp. and Meloidogyne spp. on hatching were evaluated in vitro. ANOVA and Duncan test were used for data comparison.  Results: Sphingobacterium sp. CIGBTb inhibited hatching of Haemonchus spp. (100%) and Meloidogyne spp (87%) eggs. The number of root knots and eggs per mass were significantly reduced in Solanum lycopersicum (58% and 53%, respectively). The growth of Solanum lycopersicum increased 0.59 times in relation to the control. No other reports were found on other strains of this gender with nematicidal activity, that could promote plant growth at the same time.  Conclusions:  CIGBTb might allow for biological control of nematodes by not only reducing egg hatching, but also the number of eggs per mass.]]></p></abstract>
