<self-uri xlink:href="http://scielo.sld.cu/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&amp;pid=S2224-79202021000100001&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://scielo.sld.cu/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&amp;pid=S2224-79202021000100001&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://scielo.sld.cu/scielo.php?script=sci_pdf&amp;pid=S2224-79202021000100001&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[RESUMEN  Antecedentes: La futura expansión de la acuicultura dependerá de alimentos balanceados procesados que promuevan óptimos indicadores productivos, particularmente en cultivos de bagres africanos (Clarias gariepinus) donde existen pocos estudios con esta finalidad.  Objetivo.  Evaluar el efecto del procesamiento de la dieta sobre el desempeño productivo de Clarias gariepinus.  Métodos: Se realizaron dos bioensayos con la formulación del alimento balanceado para alevinaje de bagres africanos. En el primero se comparó el alimento balanceado de forma peletizado (T-I peletizado) y extrusado (T-II extrusado) y en el segundo se utilizó el alimento peletizado de forma industrial (T-III peletizado) y este mismo se molió y se extrusó (T-IV peletizado-extrusado). Se utilizaron modelos de clasificación simple de dos tratamientos con tres replicas y los datos se compararon con un análisis de varianza simple.  Resultados: No hubo diferencias (P&gt;0,05) en los pesos finales, conversión alimentaria y eficiencia proteica entre el alimento peletizado y extrusado. Sin embargo, el proceso de extrusión al alimento peletizado mejoró de forma significativa (P&lt;0,05) el desempeño productivo de alevines de Clarias gariepinus. Las supervivencias fueron mayores que 90%.  Conclusiones: La utilización de pienso extrusado a partir de harinas mezcladas no tuvo efecto marcado en los indicadores productivos de Clarias gariepinus. Sin embargo, la extrusión del pienso peletizado mejoró el desempeño productivo de estos animales.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT  Background: Further expansion of aquaculture will depend on balanced and processed feeds that promote optimum productive indicators, particularly in the culture of African catfish (Clarias gariepinus), an area with few related studies. The aim of this paper was to evaluate the effects of diet processing on the productive performance of Clarias gariepinus.  Methods:  Two bioassays were done with the formulation of the balanced feed for African catfish fry cultures. The first assay was based on a comparison of pelleted balance feeds (pelleted T-1), and extruded (extruded T-II). The second experiment included the commercial pellets (pelleted T-III), which were ground and extruded (pelleted/extruded T-IV). Simple classification models with two treatments and three repetitions were done; the data were compared using simple analysis of variance.  Results: No differences were found (P&lt;0.05) in final weight, feed conversion, and protein efficiency between the pelleted and the extruded feeds. However, extruding significantly improved (P&lt;0.05) the productive performance of Clarias gariepinus fries. Survival was over 90%.  Conclusions:  The utilization of extruded feeds from mixed meals had no significant effects on the productive indicators of Clarias gariepinus. However, extruding the pelleted feed improved the productive performance of these animals.]]></p></abstract>
