It also supports viewing from multiple monitors and allows simultaneous associations with the image server. It is made up of independent and integrated applications following international interoperability standards for the management of medical images and their diagnostic reports. All its components were completely developed with Cuban knowledge and advised by highly prestigious radiologists in the country. This paper focuses on presenting an analysis of the contribution of the XAVIA PACS-RIS platform in the development of digital medical radiology in Cuba. Computer scientists and radiologists from institutions receiving the solution were contacted and interviewed to obtain statistics on the system's operation. By applying the inductive-deductive method, it was possible to reach general conclusions about the processes of patient care in the diagnostic imaging services of health institutions that use the XAVIA PACS system. The platform is implemented in 27 clinical-care institutions until February 2023, being Havana the one with the highest level of introduction of the result. The use of its applications contributes to caring for the environment by replacing radiographic films and their developing liquids, which leads to significant savings on account of imports. Cuba is advancing towards a model of digital transformation in health and the specialty of radiology is at the forefront. The introduction and adaptation of new technologies in this field will promote the initiation of a teleradiology process to and from Cuba, taking the service to all latitudes.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[RESUMEN La plataforma XAVIA PACS-RIS permite visualizar, almacenar y transmitir imágenes médicas digitales. También propicia la visualización desde múltiples estaciones diagnósticas y permite peticiones simultáneas con el servidor de imágenes. Está compuesta por aplicaciones independientes e integradas siguiendo estándares internacionales de interoperabilidad para la gestión de imágenes médicas y sus informes de diagnóstico. Todos sus componentes fueron desarrollados íntegramente con conocimientos cubanos y asesorados por radiólogos de gran prestigio en el país. Este artículo se centra en presentar un análisis del aporte de la plataforma XAVIA PACS-RIS en el desarrollo de la radiología médica digital en Cuba. Se contactó y entrevistó a informáticos y radiólogos de las instituciones que recibieron la solución para obtener estadísticas sobre el funcionamiento del sistema. Aplicando el método inductivo-deductivo se logró llegar a conclusiones generales sobre los procesos de atención al paciente en los servicios de diagnóstico por imágenes de las instituciones de salud que utilizan el sistema XAVIA PACS. La plataforma está implementada en 27 instituciones de atención clínica hasta febrero de 2023, siendo La Habana la de mayor nivel de introducción del resultado. El uso de sus aplicaciones contribuye al cuidado del medio ambiente al sustituir las películas radiográficas y sus líquidos de revelado, lo que conlleva importantes ahorros por concepto de importaciones. Cuba avanza hacia un modelo de transformación digital en salud y la especialidad de radiología está a la vanguardia. La introducción y adaptación de nuevas tecnologías en este campo promoverá el inicio de un proceso de telerradiología desde y hacia Cuba, llevando el servicio a todas las latitudes.]]></p></abstract>
