Con el objetivo de caracterizar la composición florística y la estructura de un matorral xeromorfo costero y subcostero, se desarrolló el siguiente trabajo en el sitio "El Rosal", ubicado en la zona semiárida de la provincia Guantánamo. Se establecieron 20 parcelas de muestreo con un área de 20 x 25 m; se registró el diámetro (1,30) y altura de todos los individuos e" 5 cm., el muestreo fue validado con la curva área-especie. Con los valores obtenidos se calcularon los índices de diversidad de Shannon, equitatividad y Simpson y la diversidad beta a través de un análisis de conglomerados jerárquicos, mediante la medida de distancia de Sorensen, la estructura horizontal y la estructura vertical mediante la descripción de los estratos de la vegetación. Se registraron un total de 15 especies pertenecientes a 10 géneros y 11 familias, donde las especies de mayor importancia ecológica resultaron: Guaiacum officinale L. y Leucaena leucocephala (Lam.) de Wit. En el análisis del conglomerado, se distinguieron tres agrupaciones con un 63 % de similitud. Se demostró la baja diversidad florística y la vegetación alcanzó hasta 5 m de altura dominante y las especies de mayor posición sociológica resultó Guaiacum officinale, Leucaena leucocephala. y Azadirachta indica.]]></p></abstract>

Com o objetivo de caracterizar a composição e estrutura florística de um matagal xeromórfico costeiro e sub-costeiro, foi desenvolvido o seguinte trabalho, no sítio "El Rosal" localizado no semi-árido da província de Guantánamo.
