El objetivo fue determinar el efecto de la crianza de Sus scropha en la regeneración natural de Quercus cubana. Se establecieron 0 parcelas de 100 m2 donde se caracterizó la vegetación en términos de composición, diversidad y estructura; se determinó la abundancia de los cerdos en las áreas y la relación entre la regeneración natural de Quercus cubana con la intensidad de la actividad de los mismos y las variables de la vegetación medidas. En los encinares estudiados no existieron diferencias significativas en las especies vegetales asociadas según la tendencia de las curvas de rarefacción y los estimadores no paramétricos. En ambas áreas, el estrato herbáceo fue el mejor representado seguido del estrato arbustivo en cuanto a la riqueza de especies y al número de pies, siendo los de mayor incidencia en la posición sociológica. Los cerdos son comunes en las áreas, y su intensidad de la actividad de estos se consideró alta e incide además en el aumento de esta última en la disminución de la regeneración natural del encino. No existen diferencias significativas entre la cima y la parte media del área.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="pt"><p><![CDATA[RESUMO A presença de Sus scropha em áreas de Quercus cubana pode estar influenciando a propagação dessa espécie. Portanto, foram selecionadas duas áreas naturais de floresta de azinheiras em Alturas de Pizarrade na Estação Experimental Agroflorestal de Viñales. O objetivo era determinar o efeito da criação de Sus scropha na regeneração natural de Quercus cubana. Foram estabelecidas 20 parcelas de 100 m2 onde a vegetação foi caracterizada em termos de composição, diversidade e estrutura; a abundância de porcos nas áreas e a relação entre a regeneração natural da Quercus cubana com a intensidade da atividade dos porcos e as variáveis de vegetação medidas foram determinadas. Nas florestas de azinheiras estudadas, não houve diferenças significativas nas espécies de plantas associadas, de acordo com a tendência das curvas de rarefação e dos estimadores não paramétricos. Em ambas as áreas, o estrato herbáceo foi o mais bem representado, seguido pelo estrato arbustivo em termos de riqueza de espécies e número de árvores, sendo os de maior incidência na posição sociológica. Os porcos são comuns nas áreas, e sua intensidade de atividade foi considerada alta e também influencia o aumento da regeneração natural da azinheira. Não há diferenças significativas entre a parte superior e a parte intermediária da área.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[SUMMARY The presence of Sus scropha in the areas of Quercus cubana could be affecting the propagation of this species, for which reason two natural areas of oak forest were selected on Alturas de Pizarra of the Viñales Agroforestry Experimental Station. The objective was to determine the effect of raising Sus scropha on the natural regeneration of Quercus cubana. Twenty 100 m 2 plots were established where the vegetation was characterized in terms of composition, diversity and structure. The abundance of pigs in the areas and the relationship between the natural regeneration of Quercus cubana with the intensity of their activity and the measured vegetation variables were determined. In the oak groves studied, there were no significant differences in the associated plant species according to the trend of the rarefaction curves and the non-parametric estimators. In both areas, the herbaceous layer was the best represented followed by the shrub layer in terms of species richness and number of feet, being the ones with the highest incidence in the sociological position. Pigs are common in the areas, and their intensity of activity was considered high and also affects the increase in the latter in the decrease in the natural regeneration of the oak. There are no significant differences between the top and the middle part of the area.]]></p></abstract>
