<self-uri xlink:href="http://scielo.sld.cu/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&amp;pid=S2664-08802020000400001&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://scielo.sld.cu/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&amp;pid=S2664-08802020000400001&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://scielo.sld.cu/scielo.php?script=sci_pdf&amp;pid=S2664-08802020000400001&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[RESUMEN Se presenta un análisis de la circulación oceánica en el área atlántica y caribeña (de 5 a 25oN y de 45 a 95oW), mediante el uso del modelo HYCOM, tomando como estudio de caso, las temporadas ciclónicas muy activa de 2005, poco activa de 2009 e intermedia de 2013. Se analizan las variables principales (temperatura, salinidad y componentes de las corrientes), a partir de los re-análisis de entrada en HYCOM, libremente disponibles, desde superficie hasta 1500 m. Se describe la distribución espacio-temporal de las variables y sus peculiaridades, con especial atención a la presencia de torbellinos ciclónicos y anticiclónicos. Se aprecia que las particularidades de la circulación de las aguas y el comportamiento de la estructura termohalina, está en correspondencia con la alternancia de anomalías positivas y negativas de las descargas desde la cuenca amazónica hacia el norte de Atlántico Central Tropical, lo cual depende de su régimen de lluvia, fundamentalmente en la zona central de la cuenca; una situación semejante también se observa en los aportes del Orinoco hacia el Caribe. Los resultados muestran que las particularidades de la circulación en esta área, de conjunto con la estructura termohalina, influyeron de forma notable en el comportamiento de las temporadas ciclónicas analizadas, por lo que se recomienda incluir en los pronósticos de temporada la valoración de las salidas de modelos oceánicos, atendiendo no solo a la temperatura superficial, sino también al espesor de las aguas cálidas, la salinidad y al comportamiento de los torbellinos.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT An analysis of the oceanic circulation on the Caribbean and Tropical North Atlantic areas (5-25 oN and 45-95 oW) is presented, using the HYCOM model re-analysis inputs and taking as study cases, the tropical cyclone seasons of 2005 (very active), 2009 (weak) and 2013 (medium). The behavior of the principal oceanographic variables (water temperature, salinity and streams) is analyzed, from the surface to the 1500 m depth. The time-space evolution and peculiarities of those variables are described, with special attention to presence of the cyclonic and anti-cyclonic eddies inside the Caribbean Sea. Is is observed that the water circulation and the thermohaline structure behavior are in correspondence with the fresh water discharges from the Amazonian Basin and, in lest measure, from the Orinoco ones, principally depending of the rainfall regimes over the central zone of the Amazonian Basin. The obtained results show that the activity of the analyzed cyclonic seasons were intense affected by the surface thermohaline circulation, son it is recommended that this fact will take into account to make the habitual forecast of the tropical cyclone season.]]></p></abstract>
