Particular atención se prestó a la porción sudeste del golfo de México, zona donde suele localizarse con una mayor frecuencia la Corriente de Lazo. La temporada de ciclones tropicales en el golfo de México ocurre mayormente entre los meses de junio y octubre con una alta variabilidad de un año a otro. Entre el 2000 y 2022 se originaron 63 organismos sobre el golfo de México. La formación de ciclones tropicales tuvo lugar sobre todo el golfo mientras que la intensificación ocurrió sobre la mitad occidental, principalmente sobre la bahía de Campeche. Por otra parte, los procesos de formación e intensificación sobre el sudeste del golfo de México son muy pocos como para establecer relaciones concluyentes entre la ciclogénesis tropical y la Corriente de Lazo. No obstante, la intensificación ocurrió en ciclones tropicales de origen atlántico y en las inmediaciones de los 24 ºN, coincidiendo con la posición de la Corriente de Lazo en su fase retraída.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT An analysis of the climatology of tropical storms and hurricanes over the Gulf of Mexico during the period 2000-2022 is presented, particularly with the formation, intensification and trajectories followed by tropical cyclonic organisms in this basin. Particular attention was paid to the southeastern portion of the Gulf of Mexico, an area where the Loop Current is usually located with greater frequency. The tropical cyclone season in the Gulf of Mexico occurs mostly between the months of June and October with high variability from year to year. Between 2000 and 2022, 63 organisms was originated in the Gulf of Mexico. The formation of tropical cyclones took place over the entire Gulf while intensification occurred over the western half, mainly over the Bay of Campeche. On the other hand, the formation and intensification processes over the southeastern Gulf of Mexico are too few to establish conclusive relationships between tropical cyclogenesis and the Loop Current. However, the intensification occurred in tropical cyclones of Atlantic origin and near of 24ºN, coinciding with the position of the Loop Current in its retracted phase.]]></p></abstract>
