<self-uri xlink:href="http://scielo.sld.cu/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&amp;pid=S0253-570X2019000200006&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://scielo.sld.cu/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&amp;pid=S0253-570X2019000200006&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://scielo.sld.cu/scielo.php?script=sci_pdf&amp;pid=S0253-570X2019000200006&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[RESUMEN Con el objetivo de determinar el nivel de conocimiento sobre la leptospirosis en las personas vinculadas a la cadena de producción bovina en la provincia Manabí, República del Ecuador, se realizó un estudio transversal en el que se aplicó una encuesta abierta de carácter voluntario en 12 cantones de la provincia Manabí. El cuestionario contaba con 30 preguntas enfocadas en 16 elementos fundamentales sobre el conocimiento de la enfermedad. Se le asignó cinco puntos a los aspectos conocidos y cero a los no conocidos por cada encuestado. Se evaluó la asociación del nivel de conocimiento con el sexo, nivel de escolaridad, rango de edad, estrato poblacional y cantón de procedencia del encuestado, utilizando un Modelo Lineal Generalizado con distribución quasi-Poisson. El 63,02 % de las personas encuestadas refiere que conoce la enfermedad. Se demostró que las personas que no tienen estudios y los que alcanzaron el nivel escolar primario tienen un menor nivel de conocimiento que los que poseen nivel secundario, así como que las personas del sexo femenino tienen un menor nivel de conocimiento. En el análisis por estrato poblacional se pudo comprobar que las personas que se dedican al transporte tienen menor nivel de conocimiento que los ganaderos, a diferencia de los médicos veterinarios, quienes presentan un mayor nivel de conocimiento; las personas del resto de los estratos no mostraron diferencias en el nivel de conocimiento comparado con los ganaderos. No se determinó asociación entre el nivel de conocimiento con el rango de edad ni con el cantón de procedencia de los encuestados. Se comprobó que el nivel de conocimiento sobre la forma de transmisión del agente a los animales y al hombre, las fuentes de infección y las medidas de control de la enfermedad son deficitarios; por lo que resulta necesario abordar este problema desde la perspectiva de &#8220;Una salud&#8221;, con un enfoque multidisciplinario y multisectorial.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT The aim of this study was to determine the level of knowledge of leptospirosis among the people linked to the bovine production chain in Manabí province, Ecuador. A cross-sectional study was carried out through an open and voluntary survey applied in 12 cantons of Manabí province. The questionnaire had a total of 30 questions focused on 16 fundamental aspects about the disease. Five points were assigned to the known aspects and zero to those not known by each people surveyed. The association of the level of knowledge regarding sex, education level, age range, population stratum, and canton of origin of the people surveyed was evaluated using a Generalized Linear Model with quasi-Poisson distribution. The 63.02 % of the people surveyed reported that they knew the disease. It was shown that people who did not have studies and those who reached the primary school level had a lower level of knowledge than those who had a secondary level. Women had a lower level of knowledge about leptospirosis than men. Regarding the analysis by population stratum, it was found that people engaged in transport had a lower level of knowledge than farmers. Moreover, veterinarians had a higher level of knowledge than farmers. People from other strata did not show differences in the level of knowledge compared to farmers. No association was found between the level of knowledge regarding the age range or the canton of origin of the people surveyed. Important aspects such as the way in which the agent is transmitted to animals and man, the sources of infection and the control measures of the disease, were deficient. In addition, it is necessary to address this problem from the perspective of &#8220;One Health&#8221;, with a multidisciplinary and multisectoral approach.]]></p></abstract>
