Camus, en las sabanas de Córdoba, Colombia.  Materiales y Métodos:  Se utilizaron 48 bovinos Cebú comercial, con peso promedio de 200 ± 15 kg, en los que se evaluaron tres cargas (2, 4 y 6 animales ha-1) y dos períodos de descanso (20 y 28 días), en un diseño de bloques completamente al azar, con arreglo factorial 3 x 2, para seis tratamientos en total. Se evaluó el rendimiento, la calidad nutricional de los forrajes y la ganancia diaria de peso de los animales. Se registraron los costos, directos e indirectos, y a partir de ello se determinó la utilidad neta, la rentabilidad y el punto de equilibrio.  Resultados:  El rendimiento de materia seca presentó diferencias (p &lt; 0,05) significativas, siendo mayor en los tratamientos con carga de 2 animales ha-1 y tiempos de descanso de 20 (T1) y 28 (T2) días, con valores medios de 1 055,4 y 1 265,4 kg de MS ha-1, respectivamente. La composición nutricional de la materia seca no se afectó por los factores evaluados. La ganancia media diaria fue significativamente mayor (p &lt; 0,05) en el tratamiento T1, para un valor de 0,612 kg animal-1 día-1 como promedio. Los tratamientos de la carga media (4 animales ha-1) presentaron mayor rentabilidad, lo que redujo el costo del kilogramo de carne producido.  Conclusión:  Desde el punto de vista productivo y económico, la producción de carne mediante bovinos de levante en praderas de B. pertusa es más rentable cuando se emplea una carga media.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract  Objective:  To evaluate the effect of the resting period and stocking rate on the productive response of weaner cattle in rotational grazing of Bothriochloa pertusa (L) A. Camus, on the savannas of Córdoba, Colombia.  Materials and Methods:  Forty-eight commercial Zebu cattle, were used with average weight of 200 ± 15 kg, in which three stocking rates were evaluated (2, 4 and 6 animals ha-1) and two resting periods (20 and 28 days), in a complete randomized block design, with 3 x 2 factorial arrangement, for six treatments in total. The yield, nutritional quality of the forages and daily weight gain of the animals, were evaluated. The direct and indirect costs were recorded, and from them the net profit, cost-effectiveness and balance point were determined.  Results:  The dry matter yield showed significant differences (p &lt; 0,05), being higher in the treatments with stocking rate of 2 animals ha-1 and resting times of 20 (T1) and 28 (T2) days, with mean values of 1 055,4 and 1 265,4 kg DM ha-1, respectively. The nutritional composition of dry matter was not affected by the evaluated factors. The mean daily gain was significantly higher (p &lt; 0,05) in treatment T1, for a value of 0,612 kg animal-1 day-1 as average. The treatments of the moderate stocking rate (4 animals ha-1) showed higher cost-effectiveness, which reduced the cost of the produced beef kilogram.  Conclusion:  From the productive and economic point of view, meat production through weaners on B. pertusa grasslands is more cost-effective when a moderate stocking rate is used.]]></p></abstract>
