B.K. Simon &amp; S.W.L en la región Caribe colombiana. Materiales y Métodos: El estudio se llevó a cabo en cinco localidades ubicadas en las subregiones Caribe húmedo y Caribe seco de Colombia. Se evaluaron los cultivares Agrosavia Sabanera y Agrosavia Mishaya, los cuales se compararon con los testigos comerciales Mombasa y Tanzania. En cada localidad se establecieron 12 parcelas de 2 x 3 m, distribuidas en un diseño de bloques completos al azar, con tres repeticiones. Los factores evaluados fueron cuatro cultivares y dos edades de rebrote (21 y 28 días), durante el período seco y lluvioso. Se evaluó la composición nutricional, el rendimiento de materia seca, la altura de la planta, la cobertura, el ancho y el largo de la hoja. Resultados: Los cvs. Agrosavia Sabanera, Mishaya, Mombasa y Tanzania presentaron rendimientos de materia seca similares, que variaron entre 480,4 y 577,8 kg de MS ha-1. En cuanto a la composición nutricional, los cvs. Sabanera y Mishaya presentaron las mayores concentraciones de proteína bruta (11,7 y 11,0 %, respectivamente), que difirieron (p &lt; 0,05) de las registradas por los cultivares Mombasa (10,5 %) y Tanzania (10,8 %), respectivamente. De igual forma, se encontró efecto (p &lt; 0,05) de la época y la edad en el contenido de proteína bruta. Conclusión: Las características agronómicas y nutricionales observadas en los materiales Agrosavia Sabanera y Agrosavia Mishaya compilan atributos de interés para el desarrollo de sistemas ganaderos sostenibles.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract Objectives: To evaluate the agronomic and nutritional performance of four cultivars of Megathyrsus maximus (Jacq.) B.K. Simon &amp; S.W.L in the Colombian Caribbean region. Materials and Methods: The study was conducted in five localities located in the humid Caribbean and dry Caribbean subregions of Colombia. The cultivars Agrosavia Sabanera and Agrosavia Mishaya were evaluated and compared with the commercial controls Mombasa and Tanzania. Twelve 2 x 3 m plots were established in each location, distributed in a complete randomized block design with three replicas. The evaluated factors were four cultivars and two regrowth ages (21 and 28 days), during the dry and rainy seasons. Nutritional composition, dry matter yield, plant height, cover, leaf width and leaf length were evaluated. Results: The cvs. Agrosavia Sabanera, Mishaya, Mombasa and Tanzania showed similar dry matter yields, ranging between 480,4 and 577,8 kg DM ha-1. Regarding nutritional composition, cvs. Sabanera and Mishaya had the highest crude protein concentrations (11,7 and 11,0 %, respectively), which differed (p &lt; 0,05) from those recorded by cultivars Mombasa (10,5 %) and Tanzania (10,8 %), respectively. Similarly, effect (p &lt; 0,05) of time and age on crude protein content was found.
