Se monitorearon 20 campos en producción y se aplicó una encuesta a los productores. Los muestreos se realizaron al 1 % del total de plantas presentes, en los meses de junio/2016, febrero y junio de 2017 y febrero/2018. Las severidad y densidad del vector se compararon mediante análisis de varianza. El riesgo de factores no asociados al clima, sobre la severidad de la enfermedad, se determinó mediante análisis de la Fracción Atribuible al Riesgo. Los síntomas de la enfermedad estuvieron presentes en el 100 % de los campos analizados y la severidad difirió, significativamente, en los periodos en ambas localidades. La densidad de la mosca blanca (Bemisia tabaci G.) en Caluquembe, durante junio 2016, evidenció el mayor valor de los periodos analizados; mientras que, en Kuvango, durante ese periodo fue significantemente menor, lo que demostró que la severidad no está determinada solamente por la densidad del insecto. Se demostró que la temperatura y la humedad tuvieron la mayor influencia en ambas localidades, junto a las precipitaciones y la altitud. Se determinó que el tamaño de la superficie, la procedencia de los esquejes, la colindancia y la presencia de cultivos como col (Brassica oleracea), tomate (Solanum lycopersicum) y la ausencia de protección física, fueron los factores que aportaron el mayor riesgo al desarrollo de la severidad de la enfermedad; se observó que más del 66 % de los campos monitoreados estuvieron expuestos a estos factores de riesgos. Los resultados confirman la necesidad de realizar cambios en las tácticas de manejo de la enfermedad, para contribuir a disminuir su incidencia y severidad.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT The epidemiological factors influencing on the incidence and severity of the African Cassava Mosaic Disease (CMD) were evaluated in two localities of the province of Huila, Angola. Twenty production fields were monitored, and a survey was applied to the farmers. One percent of the plants growing in each field was sampled in June, 2016; February and June, 2017; and February, 2018. Severity and whitefly density were compared by an analysis of variance. CMD symptoms were observed in 100 % of the fields, and the severity showed significant differences for both locations in each period. In Caluquembe, the density of whiteflies (Bemisia tabaci) was greater in June 2016 than in the rest of the periods analyzed, while, in the same period, it was significantly lower in Kuvango. Severity was determined not only by the density of the insect. The climatic variables analyzed showed that temperature and humidity had the greatest influence in both locations, although rainfall and altitude also influenced. The analysis of the fraction attributable to the risk permitted the estimation of the risk on CMD severity by factors like field size, cutting origins, host crops (cabbage and tomato crops) in the field or nearby, and no use of physical protection measures. It was detected that more than 66 % of the fields surveyed were exposed to these risk factors. The results confirmed the need for making changes in the tactics of CMD management in order to reduce its incidence and severity.]]></p></abstract>
