El análisis de la composición corporal constituye un elemento importante para valorar el enfoque de riesgo cardiometabólico en mujeres de edad mediana.  Objetivo:  caracterizar el riesgo cardiometabólico en mujeres de edad mediana con el antecedente de preeclampsia / eclampsia.  Métodos:  se realizó un estudio descriptivo de tipo cohorte transversal con elementos de enfoque cualitativo y cuantitativo; las unidades de análisis fueron: las pacientes con antecedentes de riesgo de preeclampsia / eclampsia atendidas en el Hospital Universitario Ginecobstétrico «Mariana Grajales», en el período enero 2007- junio 2017. La muestra se conformó con 76 pacientes del municipio de Santa Clara, con edad mediana, las cuales expresaron su conformidad para participar en la investigación.  Resultados:  del total de 76 mujeres estudiadas, se encontró que el 61,8 % eran hipertensas, y el 75 % obesas. De todas las féminas encuestadas con antecedentes de riesgo de preeclampsia / eclampsia: 53 (69,7 %) presentaron preeclampsia. El grupo de mujeres con una circunferencia abdominal mayor o igual a 88 cm, tuvo una fuerte asociación con los factores de riesgo, sobre todo con: la obesidad (80,2 %), el antecedente de preeclampsia (74,6 %) y la hipertensión arterial (21,1 %).  Conclusiones:  en las mujeres en edad mediana se encontraron factores de riesgo cardiometabólicos como: la obesidad, la hipertensión arterial, la circunferencia abdominal mayor de 88 cm y el antecedente de preeclampsia. Estos factores no son excluyentes, y su combinación resultó frecuente en este grupo de mujeres.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT  Introduction:  adipose tissue has metabolic, endocrine and regulatory functions, both at a systemic and local level. Body composition analysis is an important element to assess cardiometabolic risk approach in middle-aged women.  Objective:  to characterize cardiometabolic risk in middle-aged women with a history of preeclampsia / eclampsia.  Methods:  a descriptive, cross-sectional and cohort study with elements of a qualitative and quantitative approach was carried out; patients with a history of risk of preeclampsia / eclampsia treated at &#8220;Mariana Grajales&#8221; Gynecology and Obstetrics University Hospital from January 2007 to June 2017 were the units of analysis. The sample consisted of 76 middle- aged patients from Santa Clara municipality, who expressed their agreement to participate in the research.  Results:  we found that 61.8% were hypertensive and 75% were obese from the total of 76 women studied. Fifty-three (69.7%) had preeclampsia from all the women surveyed with a history of risk of preeclampsia / eclampsia. The group of women with an abdominal circumference greater than or equal to 88 cm had a strong association with risk factors, especially with obesity (80.2%), history of preeclampsia (74.6%) and arterial hypertension (21.1%).  Conclusions:  cardiometabolic risk factors such as obesity, arterial hypertension, abdominal circumference greater than 88 cm, and history of preeclampsia were found in middle-aged women. These factors are not exclusive, and their combination was frequent in this group of women.]]></p></abstract>
