En este contexto se aplicó una encuesta para obtener una visión general de la práctica actual en el proceso de estimación entre varias empresas de la provincia del Tungurahua zona centro de Ecuador con la finalidad de identificar los problemas al realizar estimaciones de software e intentar brindar sugerencias sobre cómo mejorar los métodos de estimación y el proceso. El principal motivo para realizar este estudio fue la necesidad de conocer el estado actual de las estimaciones en el desarrollo de software de la provincia de Tungurahua, la investigación puede ser útil en trabajos futuros ya que va a ayudar a los lectores a obtener la información necesaria sobre las técnicas de estimación de y sus limitaciones. Se encuesto a las principales empresas del sector para obtener una imagen clara de los modelos de estimación usados, y los problemas derivados por las malas estimaciones. La consideración de asuntos importantes en el proceso de desarrollo de software ayuda a producir un presupuesto preciso, además al aplicar correctamente algún método de estimación, se obtendrán plazos de entrega y presupuestos reales, mayor satisfacción de los interesados, cronogramas más acertados y menor esfuerzo de desarrollo.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT The impact of the university on the teaching of computer systems has made it possible to conclude that the estimation process is a complicated task in software development, since both planning and estimation are generally inconsistent. In this context, a survey was applied to obtain an overview of the current practice in the estimation process among various enterprises in the province of Tungurahua in central Ecuador. The survey was aimed at identifying problems in performing software estimates and attempting to provide suggestions on how to improve the estimation methods and process. The main reason for conducting this study was the need to know the current status of estimates in software development in Tungurahua province, the research may be useful in future work as it will help readers to obtain the necessary information on the estimation techniques and their limitations. The main companies in the sector were surveyed to obtain a clear picture of the estimation models used, and the problems derived from poor estimates. The consideration of important issues in the software development process helps to produce an accurate budget. In addition, by correctly applying some estimation method, real delivery times and budgets, greater satisfaction of the interested parties, more accurate schedules and less development effort will be obtained.]]></p></abstract>
