This paper shows the results of the tests carried out on the Volkswagen 1.9 SDI engine with the Armfield CM12 test bench, carried out in the Diesel engine laboratory of the Department of Agricultural Mechanical Engineering (DIMA) of the Autonomous University of Chapingo (AUCh). The SAE J1995 methodology was used to adjust the characteristic curves of torque and gross power, as well as the hourly and specific fuel consumption using the methods of scanner and balance. In addition, the lambda &#955; index variation was obtained. It was obtained that the maximum power regime varies by 4.1% and the maximum power by 16.7%, in relation to the nominal; the average minimum specific consumption is 179.5 g / kWh.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[RESUMEN Las pruebas de los motores diésel se encuentran estandarizadas y se rigen por normas que permiten determinar los principales parámetros de funcionamiento del motor. En el presente trabajo se muestran los resultados de las pruebas realizadas al motor Volkswagen 1.9 SDI con el banco de pruebas Armfield CM12, realizadas en el laboratorio de motores Diésel del Departamento de Ingeniería Mecánica Agrícola (DIMA) de la Universidad Autónoma Chapingo (UACh). Se utilizó la metodología de la Norma SAE J1995 para ajustar las curvas características de torque y potencia bruta, así como los consumos horario y específico de combustible utilizando los métodos del escáner y la balanza; además, se obtuvo la variación del índice lambda &#955;. Los resultados son que el régimen de máxima potencia varía en un 4.1% y la máxima potencia en un 16.7%, con relación al nominal; el consumo específico mínimo promedio es de 179.5 g/kWh.]]></p></abstract>
