The mechanical operations are carried out in the soil with or without the plant and on the plant for harvesting with high yields. All these actions can affect the soil microstructure, its density and content of organic matter, as well as its capacity of cation exchange, its fertility and productivity. To value the behavior of these properties, Lixiviated Red Ferrallitic soils were studied in areas without cultivating, cultivated with sugar cane (Saccharum officinarum L.) during twelve and seventy-five years, cultivated with medicinal plants for twenty years and cultivated with varied crops for eighteen years, with irrigation. It was found that the pH (H2O and KCl) and the hydrolytic acidity increased as years of sugar cane cultivation increased, which did not happen in the areas without cultivating and in soils dedicated to medicinal plants. In the Red Ferrallitic Lixiviated fields with several cultivations and irrigation, the pH reached values above seven due to the high content of calcium in irrigation waters derived from karst region, effect generated by the climate change.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[RESUMEN El hombre emplea acciones mecánicas ejercidas por diversas categorías de máquinas, para llevar el suelo al estado físico más deseable. Las operaciones mecánicas se llevan a cabo en el suelo con o sin la planta y sobre la planta, para la obtención de una cosecha, pretendiendo obtener altos rendimientos. Todas estas acciones pueden afectar la micro estructura del suelo, la densidad de volumen, el contenido de materia orgánica, la capacidad de intercambio catiónico y la fertilidad y productividad del suelo. Para estudiar el comportamiento de estas propiedades, se valoró el comportamiento de los suelos Ferralíticos Rojos lixiviados en un área sin cultivar, durante 100 años, en caña de azúcar (Saccharum officinarum L.) cultivadas durante, 12 y 75 años, en planta medicinales cultivadas por 20 años y áreas de cultivos varios con riego, en un lapso de tiempo de 18 años. Se encontró que el pH (H2O y al KCl) y la acidez hidrolítica aumenta a medida que se incrementa los años de explotación, del cultivo de la caña de azúcar, no sucediendo esto en las áreas sin cultivar y en suelos dedicados a plantas medicinales. En los suelos Ferralíticos Rojos Lixiviados, sembrados con cultivos varios, con riego, el pH sobre paso valores por encima de siete debido al alto contenido de calcio que poseen las aguas de riego producto de una intensificación del carsismo.]]></p></abstract>
