In group I GI (n = 18) dry cows, GII (n = 22) between 45 and 60 days of lactation and GIII (n = 16) higher than 150 days of lactation were used. The biochemical analyzes were carried out by means of the enzymatic calorimetric method and the readings were performed by absorption spectrophotometry. The IGF-I values were obtained by radioimmunoassay. The animals from GII showed lower (P = 0.0001) concentrations of glucose (1.89 ± 0.22 mmol/L) and IGF-I (P &lt;.0001; 98.74 ± 9.85 ng/mL) in relation to the dry group (3.11 ± 0.27 mmol/L and 103.35 ± 11.87 ng/mL) and&gt; 150 days of lactation (2.78 ± 0.20 mmol / L and 186.13 ± 9.49 ng/mL). The lactating cows showed higher (P = 0.0011) cholesterol levels (GII = 3.69 ± 0.20 mmol/L and GIII = 3.53 ± 0.20 mmol/L) with respect to the GI (2.70 ± 0.25 mmol / L). The GIII showed higher (P &lt;.0001) concentrations of triglycerides (0.45 ± 0.04 mmol/L) and total proteins (P = 0.0087; 89.4 ± 1.8 g/L) than the rest (GI =0.26 ± 0.03 mmol/L and 84.0 ± 2.2 g/L) (GII = 0.27 ± 0.03 mmol / L and 82.8 ± 1.8 g/ L). It is concluded that the physiological state influences on the performance of the metabolic indicators, mainly due to the demand of the energy reserves, because of the productive level of the animals.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen Se utilizaron 56 vacas Siboney de Cuba en diferentes estados fisiológicos (lactantes y secas), con el objetivo de evaluar las concentraciones de glucosa, colesterol, triglicéridos, proteínas totales y factor de crecimiento semejante a la insulina tipo I (IGF-I). En el grupo I GI (n =18) se utilizaron vacas secas, GII (n = 22) entre 45 y 60 días de lactancia y GIII (n =16) mayor a 150 días de lactancia. Los análisis bioquímicos se realizaron mediante el método calorimétrico enzimático y las lecturas se efectuaron por espectrofotometría de absorción. Los valores de IGF-I se obtuvieron mediante radioinmunoanálisis. Los animales del GII mostraron menores (P = 0.0001) concentraciones de glucosa (1.89 ± 0.22 mmol/L) e IGF-I (P &lt; .0001; 98.74 ±9.85 ng/mL) en relación con el grupo seco (3.11 ±0.27 mmol/L y 103.35 ±11.87 ng/mL) y &gt; 150 días de lactancia (2.78 ± 0.20 mmol/L y 186.13 ±9.49 ng/mL). Las vacas lactando presentaron mayores (P = 0.0011) niveles de colesterol (GII= 3.69 ±0.20 mmol/L y GIII= 3.53 ±0.20 mmol/L) con respecto al GI (2.70 ±0.25 mmol/L). Se concluye que el estado fisiológico influye en el comportamiento de los indicadores metabólicos, debido fundamentalmente a la demanda de las reservas energéticas, como consecuencia del nivel productivo de los animales.]]></p></abstract>
