<self-uri xlink:href="http://scielo.sld.cu/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&amp;pid=S2079-34802019000300289&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://scielo.sld.cu/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&amp;pid=S2079-34802019000300289&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://scielo.sld.cu/scielo.php?script=sci_pdf&amp;pid=S2079-34802019000300289&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT An experiment in Acuipaso Station, Granma province, Cuba was carried out to evaluate the effect on growth and survival indicators of inclusion levels (0, 10, 20 and 30 %) of water fern meal (Azolla filiculoides) in diets for red tilapia hybrid small fish (Oreochromis mossambicus x O. niloticus). A completely randomized design with four treatments and three repetitions was used; 120 small fish of 26 days of age were used, which were distributed in four groups of 30, ten small fish per tank (each tank represented a repetition). The chemical composition of meal was determined, and the variables: survival, weight and its increase, average gain and feed conversion factor were studied. The simple classification variance analysis was performed on the data obtained and it the Duncan test was used to compare the means. The chemical composition reported percentages of CP (20.74), CF (19.34) and adequate amino acid balance (1.40, 2.30, 2.65 and 3.14 % of methionine, arginine, lysine and valine, respectively); the oxygen, temperature and pH of the water (5.34 mg/L, 24.33°C and 8.02) were maintained at the optimum average value for this species. For the indicators of growth and survival there were significant differences (p &lt;0.05) between all the treatments, except for the control and 10 % with results of 6.556g, 7.793 g/day, 1.85 g/g, 0.55 and 7.266 cm , for the final live weight, ADG, conversion, food efficiency and final length, respectively. It was concluded that Azolla filiculoides have an adequate chemical and amino acid composition so that it could be used in the feeding of red tilapia small fish, with 10 % of inclusion in the diet, results in accordance with the control diet were obtained in the productive indicators, without affecting the water quality.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[RESUMEN Se realizó un experimento en la Estación Acuipaso, provincia de Granma, Cuba, para evaluar el efecto en los indicadores del crecimiento y supervivencia de niveles de inclusión (0, 10, 20 y 30%) de harina del helecho de agua (Azolla filiculoides) en dietas para alevines híbridos de tilapia roja (Oreochromis mossambicus x O. niloticus). Se empleó un diseño completamente aleatorizado con cuatro tratamientos y tres repeticiones; para ello se utilizaron 120 alevines de 26 días de edad los que se distribuyeron en cuatro grupos de 30, diez alevines por tanques (cada tanque representó una repetición). Se determinó la composición química de la harina, y se estudiaron las variables: supervivencia, peso y su incremento, ganancia media y factor de conversión alimenticia. A los datos obtenidos se le realizó análisis de varianza de clasificación simple y se empleó la prueba de Duncan para la comparación de las medias. La composición química informó porcentajes de PB (20.74), FB (19.34) y adecuado balance de aminoácidos (1.40; 2.30; 2.65 y 3.14% de metionina, arginina, lisina y valina, respectivamente); el oxígeno, temperatura y pH del agua (5.34 mg/L, 24.33°C y 8.02) se mantuvieron al valor medio óptimo para esta especie. Para los indicadores del crecimiento y supervivencia existió diferencias significativas (p&lt;0,05) entre todos los tratamientos, excepto para el control y el 10% con resultados de 6.556g, 7.793 g/día, 1.85 g/g, 0.55 y 7.266 cm, para el peso vivo final, GMD, conversión, eficiencia alimentaria y longitud final, respectivamente. Se concluyó que la Azolla filiculoides presenta adecuada composición química y aminoacídica por lo que pudiera ser utilizada en la alimentación de alevines de tilapia roja, con 10% de inclusión en la dieta se obtuvieron en los indicares productivos resultados acordes con la dieta control, sin afectar la calidad del agua.]]></p></abstract>
