Results indicated polymorphism in the SSR markers, which amplified 68 fragments in total, of which 57 were polymorphic and 7 appeared in a single genotype. Markers CTM8 (DI = 0.88), PSMP2255 (DI = 0.71), PSMP2267 (DI = 0.74) and PGIRD56 (DI = 0.74) showed the highest diversity indixes. Dice distance coefficients ranged from 0.04 to 0.63, indicating high genetic variability among the accessions. Genotypes were divided into three groups in which King grass and OM-22 varieties were not included. The three groups were composed by the genotypes suitable for grazing. The use of these markers is suggested to evaluate genetic diversity in the 56 accessions conserved in the Instituto de Ciencia Animal germplasm bank.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[RESUMEN En este trabajo se determinó la diversidad genética en 15 variedades y clones de Cenchrus purpureus con 11 marcadores de ADN microsatélites SSR identificados en millo perla (Cenchrus americanus). Los resultados indicaron polimorfismo en los marcadores SSR, que amplificaron en total 68 fragmentos de los cuales 57 fueron polimórficos y 7 aparecieron en un solo genotipo. Los marcadores CTM8 (DI=0,88), PSMP2255 (DI=0,71), PSMP2267 (DI=0,74) y PGIRD56 (DI=0,74) presentaron los mayores índices de diversidad. Los coeficientes de distancia de Dice oscilaron entre 0,04 y 0,63 indicando alta variabilidad genética entre las accesiones. Los genotipos se agruparon en tres grupos en los cuales no se incluyeron las variedades King grass ni OM-22. Los tres grupos se conformaron con los genotipos de porte idóneo para pastoreo. Se sugiere el uso de estos marcadores para evaluar la diversidad genética en las 56 accesiones conservadas en el banco de germoplasma del Instituto de Ciencia Animal.]]></p></abstract>
