According to the value category, six functions were identified: milk production, carbon sequestration, nitrogen fixation, soil fertility, soil quality, obtaining renewable energy and biodiversity. Different valuation techniques were applied, depending on each environmental function. The total economic value provided by the livestock ecosystem in the studied year was 52,189.15 USD, which is much higher than if only its productive value had been considered. This research demonstrated the importance of taking into account the environmental economic valuation, as an instrument to achieve the sustainable and integral management of all the components that make up the livestock ecosystems, so that it is possible to achieve their resilience.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen Para determinar el valor económico ambiental de una lechería típica de la provincia Mayabeque, basada en la explotación de un sistema silvopastoril con Leucaena leucocephala, luego de 20 años de establecido, se identificaron las principales funciones ambientales del agroecosistema, teniendo en cuenta la teoría del valor económico total. Según la categoría de valor, se identificaron seis funciones: producción de leche, retención de carbono, fijación de nitrógeno, fertilidad del suelo, calidad del suelo, obtención de energía renovable y biodiversidad. Se aplicaron diferentes técnicas de valoración, en dependencia de cada función ambiental. El valor económico total aportado por el ecosistema ganadero en el año estudiado fue de 52 189.15USD, lo que es muy superior a si solo se hubiese considerado su valor productivo. Este trabajo demostró la importancia de tener en cuenta la valoración económica ambiental, como instrumento para lograr el manejo sostenible e integral de todos los componentes que conforman los ecosistemas ganaderos, de modo que sea posible lograr su resiliencia.]]></p></abstract>
