<self-uri xlink:href="http://scielo.sld.cu/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&amp;pid=S2079-34802021000300285&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://scielo.sld.cu/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&amp;pid=S2079-34802021000300285&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://scielo.sld.cu/scielo.php?script=sci_pdf&amp;pid=S2079-34802021000300285&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract Twenty Siboney de Cuba cows, with similar lactation numbers, liveweight and milk production, were used to evaluate productive performance of dairy cows subjected to supplementation with Cuban ensiled feed, made from the fermentation of cassava or sweet potato. Cassava was used for the present experiment. The evaluation took place during dry season. Cows had 135 days of lactation, 7.6 kg of milk/day and a body condition of 3±0.1. They were divided into two groups, experimental and control, which were provided with following: a) 1 kg cow day1 of commercial concentrate during the milking time + 3 kg of Cuban silage and grazing, and b) 3 kg/cow/day-1 of commercial concentrate + evening-night grazing, respectively. Cows were milked twice (6 a.m. and 3 p.m.). After the second milking, they went to the corresponding paddocks together. The study lasted 140 consecutive days, which correspond to the evaluated period. The results indicated higher milk production, and significant (p &#8804; 0.05) in the animals with the silage (8.7 vs. 8.1). However, the body condition (3.3 vs. 3.1) did not show significant differences, neither was protein in milk (2.9 vs. 2.9), which was low in both treatments. Results indicate that another nutritional alternative is available for dairy farming, which also represents a possibility to substitute feed imports and achieve better milk productions.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen Se utilizaron 20 vacas Siboney de Cuba, con similares números de lactancia, peso vivo y producción de leche, para evaluar el comportamiento productivo de la vaca lechera sometida a la suplementación con alimento ensilado cubano, elaborado a partir de la fermentación de yuca o boniato. Para el presente experimento se utilizó yuca. La evaluación transcurrió durante la época poco lluviosa o seca. Las vacas tenían 135 días de lactancia, 7.6 kg de leche/día y condición corporal de 3 ± 0.1 Se dividieron en dos grupos, el control y el experimental, en los que se ofreció respectivamente: a) 1 kg vaca día1 de concentrado comercial durante el horario de ordeño + 3 kg de ensilado cubano y pastoreo vespertino nocturno; b) 3 kg/vaca/día-1 de concentrado comercial + pastoreo vespertino nocturno. Las vacas se sometieron a doble ordeño (6 a.m. y a las 3 p.m.). Luego del segundo ordeño, iban a los potreros correspondientes de forma conjunta. El trabajo se mantuvo 140 días consecutivos, que se corresponden con el período evaluado. Los resultados indicaron mayor producción de leche, y significativa (p &#8804; 0.05) en los animales con el ensilado (8.7 vs 8.1). Sin embargo, la condición corporal (3.3 vs 3.1) no mostró diferencias significativas; tampoco la proteína en leche (2.9 vs 2.9), que fue baja en ambos tratamientos. Los resultados indican que se puede disponer de otra alternativa nutricional para la ganadería lechera, que representa, además, una posibilidad para sustituir importaciones de pienso y lograr mejores producciones de leche.]]></p></abstract>
