The concentrations of total and cellulolytic bacteria, dry matter, pH and ammonia were determined. Total bacteria increased from 10 % with respect to the 5% inclusion of palm kernel meal (26.22, 22.06 vs. 7.06 x 1011 cfu.g-1). Cellulolytic were more, with 5% and less with 15 % in relation to control (27.44, 9.11 vs. 17.78 x 106 ufc. g-1). Dry matter decreased at 15 %, pH was higher at 10 % and NH3 was reduced as the percentage of meal increased. It is concluded that the inclusion of 15 % of palm kernel meal maintains the concentration of total bacteria and reduces cellulolytic bacteria, as well as dry matter and ammonia in the cecum of broilers.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Para determinar el efecto de la harina de palmiche en bacterias totales y celulolíticas e indicadores fermentativos cecales se utilizaron 12 pollos de ceba en un diseño completamente aleatorizado con cuatro tratamientos: control e inclusión de 5, 10 y 15% de harina de palmiche. Se determinó la concentración de bacterias totales y celulolíticas, materia seca, pH y amoníaco. Las bacterias totales se incrementaron a partir de 10 % con respecto al 5 % de inclusión de la harina de palmiche (26.22, 22.06 vs. 7.06 x 1011 ufc.g-1). Las celulolíticas fueron más con 5 % y menos con 15 % con relación al control (27.44, 9.11 vs. 17.78 x 106 ufc. g-1). La materia seca disminuyó con 15 %, el pH fue mayor para 10 % y el NH3 se redujo en la medida que aumentó el porcentaje de la harina del fruto. Se concluye que la inclusión de 15 % de harina de palmiche mantiene la concentración de bacterias totales y disminuye las celulolíticas, así como la materia seca y el amoníaco en el ciego de pollos de ceba.]]></p></abstract>
