<self-uri xlink:href="http://scielo.sld.cu/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&amp;pid=S2223-48612020000300014&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://scielo.sld.cu/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&amp;pid=S2223-48612020000300014&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://scielo.sld.cu/scielo.php?script=sci_pdf&amp;pid=S2223-48612020000300014&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[RESUMEN  Introducción:  Los Hidrocarburos Aromáticos Policíclicos (HAP) son moléculas de dos o más anillos aromáticos fusionados, de baja solubilidad en agua y elevada en disolventes orgánicos, además de reconocida capacidad mutagénica y carcinogénica, El Centro de Estudios Ambientales de Cienfuegos cuenta con un método validado de acuerdo con las normas cubanas, para determinar estos compuestos en sedimentos marinos que emplea la extracción con Soxhlet  Objetivo:  Evaluar la sustitución del procedimiento de extracción con Soxhlet por el de extracción con ultrasonidos, por ser esta tecnología más eficiente en cuanto a gasto energético, tiempo de extracción, volumen de disolvente y número de muestras a analizar simultáneamente  Materiales y Métodos:  Se realizaron ensayos comparativos mediante extracción por Soxhlet y baño de ultrasonidos, ocho muestras en cada caso, a un material de referencia certificado. El contenido de HAP se determinó en mediante un cromatógrafo de gases (SHIMADZU) GC-2007 con detector de ionización por llama (FID). Se procedió de acuerdo con lo establecido en las normas cubanas relacionadas con la validación y verificación de métodos analíticos, es decir, evaluar los parámetros de precisión y veracidad para cada procedimiento de extracción, mediante análisis de varianza (ANOVA).  Resultados y Discusión:  Los resultados revelaron que no existen diferencias significativas entre los dos procedimientos de extracción en cuanto a los parámetros precisión y veracidad.  Conclusiones:  Es posible sustituir la extracción por soxhlet con la extracción asistida por ultrasonidos, para determinar hidrocarburos aromáticos policíclicos en sedimentos marinos.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT  Introduction:  Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons are molecules with two or more fused aromatic rings with recognized mutagenic and carcinogenic capacity, they have low water solubility and high solubility in organic solvents. The Center for Environmental Studies of Cienfuegos has a validated method, according with Cuban standards, to determine these compounds in marine sediments, which uses Soxhlet extraction.  Objective:  The aim of this work is to evaluate the substitution of Soxhlet extraction procedure by ultrasound extraction, which is a more efficient method in terms of energy consumption, solvent volumes, extraction time and number of samples to could be analyzed.  Materials and Methods:  Comparative tests were carried out by Soxhlet extraction and ultrasonic bath, eight samples in each case, to a certified reference material. PAH content was determined by a gas chromatograph (SHIMADZU) GC-2007 with flame ionization detector (FID). It was proceeded in accordance to Cuban standards related to analytical methods validation and verification, that is, to evaluate precision and veracity parameters for each extraction procedure, by means of variance analysis (ANOVA).  Results and Discussion:  Results revealed that there were no significant differences between the two extraction procedures in terms of precision and veracity.  Conclusions:  Soxhlet extraction can be substituted by ultrasound-assisted extraction to determine polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in marine sediments.]]></p></abstract>
