El objetivo de este trabajo es determinar y cuantificar el contenido de polifenoles totales, flavonoides y alcaloides en extractos de hojas, así como algunas propiedades fisicoquímicas de las semillas, cáscaras y del aceite vegetal extraído de la M. oleifera, ecotipo Plain procedente de la India y aclimatada en Cuba. En las determinaciones se emplearon métodos fisicoquímicos cualitativos y cuantitativos, métodos espectrofotométricos y cromatográficos. Los resultados demostraron que esta especie posee taninos, flavonoides, y alcaloides en sus hojas en porcentajes similares a otros ecotipos aclimatados en Cuba, y el aceite vegetal obtenido de las semillas es de calidad comparable con diferentes ecotipos de otros países.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT Moringa oleifera is a plant with several biological activities and therapeutic properties, with a high content of vitamins, minerals and phytochemicals such as vanillin, omega fatty acids, carotenoids, ascorbates, tocopherols, &#946;-sitosterol, octacosanoic acid, moringin, moringinin and important phytoestrogens. The objective of this work is to determine and quantify the content of total polyphenols, flavonoids of hydroalcoholic extracts of leaves and some physiochemistry properties of seeds, shells and extracted vegetable oil of M. oleifera, Plain ecotype from India and acclimatized in Cuba. Qualitative and quantitative physiochemical, spectrophotometric, and chromatographic methods are employed. The results obtained showed that this species has tannins, polyphenols, flavonoids in similar quantities like other ecotypes acclimatized in Cuba, and the vegetable oil obtained is of good quality comparable with different ecotypes from other countries.]]></p></abstract>
