En este trabajo se realizan ensayos de tratabilidad a nivel de laboratorio, utilizando lodos de digestión anaerobia y pleurotina para estimular y bioaumentar respectivamente la población indígena de un suelo contaminado con hidrocarburos. Los ensayos evidenciaron que la materia orgánica, determinada como hidrocarburos contaminantes, posee un valor de 107,5 g/kg de suelo, la actividad respirométrica es mayor cuando se añade pleurotina que en presencia de lodos de digestión. En los ensayos en microcosmos con pleurotina se alcanzaron menores valores de materia orgánica estabilizándose el sistema a partir de la décima semana de tratamiento, pudiendo ser un indicador de remoción del contaminante.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[One of these days’ environmental problems is the contamination of soils by hydrocarbons due to bad practices and oil and its derivatives handling accidents. In this work laboratory level treatability essays have been doing, using anaerobic digestion muds and pleurotin to stimulate and bioaugment, respectively, the indigenous population of hydrocarbons contaminated soil. The essays evidenced that, to a soil contamination of 107,5 g/kg of soil, respirometric activity is higher when combining the soil with pleurotin than with digestion muds. In the microcosm essays with pleurotin, organic compounds is lower, stabilizing the system since the tenth week of treatment.]]></p></abstract>

<body><![CDATA[<p>&nbsp;</p>     <p>&nbsp;</p>     <p align="left"><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="3"><b>INTRODUCCION</b></font></p>     <p align="justify"><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">El suelo natural est&aacute; compuesto por diferentes  elementos. Cuando las cualidades originales del suelo han sido modificadas por la  incorporaci&oacute;n de agentes f&iacute;sicos, qu&iacute;micos o biol&oacute;gicos, entonces se trata de  un suelo contaminado.</font></p>     <p align="justify"><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">La contaminaci&oacute;n de los suelos por  hidrocarburos es consecuencia de los procesos de fabricaci&oacute;n, distribuci&oacute;n,  derrames y el propio uso del petr&oacute;leo y sus derivados (diesel, kerosina,  naftas, gasolinas y petr&oacute;leo combustible), y por ende su p&eacute;rdida de fertilidad  y capacidad biodegradativa, afectando la flora, la fauna y al propio hombre por  la interrelaci&oacute;n existente en los ecosistemas [1], [2].</font></p>     <p align="justify"><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Entre algunas de las tecnolog&iacute;as para la  recuperaci&oacute;n de suelos impactados con hidrocarburos, se encuentran la extracci&oacute;n  con solventes, la incineraci&oacute;n, la electrorremediaci&oacute;n y la biorremediaci&oacute;n [3],  [4]. Esta &uacute;ltima ha tenido aceptaci&oacute;n  por su bajo costo en comparaci&oacute;n con otras tecnolog&iacute;as ya que se basa en el uso  de microorganismos (bacterias, hongos, levaduras y algas) o enzimas para  producir una transformaci&oacute;n parcial o total de contaminantes org&aacute;nicos. Existen  diferentes t&eacute;cnicas de biorremediaci&oacute;n de suelos contaminados, entre las que se  destacan la bioventilaci&oacute;n, biopilas y biolabranza. En todas ellas se busca la  estimulaci&oacute;n de los procesos degradativos que, de forma natural, tienen lugar  en los ecosistemas acu&aacute;ticos y terrestres [5], [6].</font></p>     <p align="justify"><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Si la biorremediaci&oacute;n se lleva a cabo por la  acci&oacute;n del hombre, se trata de biorremediaci&oacute;n dirigida, en la cual el proceso  de biodegradaci&oacute;n se acelera al provocar la bioestimulaci&oacute;n o biaumentaci&oacute;n de  las poblaciones microbianas. La biorremediaci&oacute;n por bioestimulaci&oacute;n se basa en  estimular el crecimiento de los microorganismos end&oacute;genos por la adici&oacute;n de  nutrientes (fuentes de nitr&oacute;geno y f&oacute;sforo fundamentalmente) y ox&iacute;geno. La  biorremediaci&oacute;n por bioaumentaci&oacute;n consiste en inocular microorganismos  ex&oacute;genos capaces de degradar el contaminante por adaptaci&oacute;n previa o  manipulaci&oacute;n gen&eacute;tica [7], [8], [9].</font></p>     <p align="justify"><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Convencionalmente, para estimular el  crecimiento microbiano se utilizan formulaciones qu&iacute;micas inorg&aacute;nicas que  contienen los nutrientes antes mencionados, pero la b&uacute;squeda de estimulantes  naturales o menos agresivos ha sugerido el estudio de residuos o subproductos  de procesos biotecnol&oacute;gicos tales como la pleurotina (residual de la  fermentaci&oacute;n s&oacute;lida para la obtenci&oacute;n de setas comestibles de <em>Pleurotus ostreatus</em>) y los lodos de  digesti&oacute;n del esti&eacute;rcol vacuno. &Eacute;stos son utilizados como bioabono y  biofertilizantes para mejorar la calidad de los suelos e incluso son  comparables con el humus de lombriz [10], [11]. Estudios realizados a partir de  la pleurotina, demuestran que &eacute;sta posee numerosas enzimas (ejemplo de esta la lacasa)  y micelio de <em>Pleurotus sp</em>, que  participan en la degradaci&oacute;n de hidrocarburos [12], [13].</font></p>     <p align="justify"><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">En este trabajo se eval&uacute;a la remoci&oacute;n del extracto  org&aacute;nico en un suelo contaminado con hidrocarburos, bioestimulando y  bioaumentando con lodos anaerobios de digesti&oacute;n de esti&eacute;rcol vacuno y  pleurotina.</font></p>     <p align="justify">&nbsp;</p>     ]]></body>
<body><![CDATA[<p align="justify"><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="3"><b>MATERIALES    Y METODOS</b></font></p>     <p align="justify"><font size="2"><strong><em><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Origen y toma de la muestra</font></em></strong></font></p>     <p align="justify"><font size="2"><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Las muestras procedieron de suelos  contaminados localizados en un &aacute;rea industrial con altos niveles de  manipulaci&oacute;n de petr&oacute;leo y sus derivados, localizada en la zona costera de  Santiago de Cuba. El &aacute;rea de estudio escogida de 10 m<sup>2</sup> es cercana a  la bah&iacute;a y con una actividad de carga y descarga de buques cisternas para el  trasiego de petr&oacute;leo, que se ha mantenido por m&aacute;s de 10 a&ntilde;os. Se realiz&oacute; la  toma de muestras mediante la t&eacute;cnica de cuarteo, a 5,0 cm de profundidad y se  tamiz&oacute; hasta 0,42 mm  para eliminar las piedras y fracciones m&aacute;s gruesas. Todos los an&aacute;lisis se  realizaron por triplicado.</font></font></p>     <p align="justify"><font size="2"><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><a><strong><em>Caracterizaci&oacute;n f&iacute;sica, qu&iacute;mica y biol&oacute;gica  del suelo</em></strong></a></font></font></p>     <p align="justify"><font size="2"><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Las  muestras de suelo fueron sometidas al an&aacute;lisis granulom&eacute;trico por tamizado para  part&iacute;culas gruesas y por el m&eacute;todo del hidr&oacute;metro para part&iacute;culas finas. La  determinaci&oacute;n de los s&oacute;lidos totales, totales fijos, totales vol&aacute;tiles y  Carbono Org&aacute;nico Total (COT) se realiz&oacute; seg&uacute;n Jackson [14]. El pH,  conductividad el&eacute;ctrica, contenido de nitr&oacute;geno y f&oacute;sforo, seg&uacute;n APHA [15].</font></font></p>     <p align="justify"><font size="2"><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><strong>Ensayo r&aacute;pido de la aireaci&oacute;n de suelos</strong></font></font></p>     <p align="justify"><font size="2"><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Se dobl&oacute; un papel de filtro a lo largo  de sus di&aacute;metros y se colocaron dos muestras de suelo (punta de una esp&aacute;tula)  en los extremos opuestos del papel. Se a&ntilde;adieron dos gotas de HCl c(x/Z*)=0,1 N  a cada una de las muestras y una gota de la disoluci&oacute;n de Tiocianato de potasio  (KCNS) y otra de Hexacianoferrato (III) de potasio (K3Fe (CN)6)  en las zonas h&uacute;medas. La aparici&oacute;n de coloraci&oacute;n roja con KCNS indic&oacute; la  presencia de hierro f&eacute;rrico. La aparici&oacute;n de color azul con K3Fe  (CN)6, indic&oacute; la presencia de hierro ferroso.</font></font></p>     <p align="justify"><font size="2"><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><strong>Determinaci&oacute;n de la capacidad de campo</strong></font></font></p>     <p align="justify"><font size="2"><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Se dispuso una cantidad de suelo conocida,  secada previamente a 105 &ordm;C,  sobre un embudo con papel de filtro para impedir el paso del mismo (el peso del  papel de filtro debe tenerse en cuenta). Se reg&oacute; el sistema con agua destilada  hasta aniego. Cuando ces&oacute; el goteo de agua se pes&oacute; el conjunto del papel con la  muestra de suelo h&uacute;meda. Descontando de este valor el peso de la muestra de suelo  seca y el peso del papel de filtro (realizando todo el proceso sin suelo) se  obtuvo el peso del agua que retiene el suelo.</font></font></p>     <p align="justify"><font size="2"><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><a><strong>Determinaci&oacute;n  del </strong></a><strong>Extracto  Org&aacute;nico Total</strong></font></font></p>     ]]></body>
<body><![CDATA[<p align="justify"><font size="2"><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">El contenido de hidrocarburos se determin&oacute;  como Extracto Org&aacute;nico Total (EOT) mediante gravimetr&iacute;a, empleando como  solvente n-hexano.</font></font></p>     <p align="justify"><font size="2"><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><a><strong>Determinaci&oacute;n  de poblaci&oacute;n microbiana heter&oacute;trofa</strong></a><strong> y degradadora de hidrocarburos</strong></font></font></p>     <p align="justify"><font size="2"><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Se tom&oacute; 1 g de suelo y se a&ntilde;adi&oacute; en 9 mL de soluci&oacute;n  salina 0,9 %; se agit&oacute; vigorosamente durante 2 minutos. Un mL de la fase acuosa  se a&ntilde;adi&oacute; a 9 mL de caldo nutriente. Se incub&oacute; por un tiempo de 24 horas. La  aparici&oacute;n de turbidez respecto al tubo control corrobora la existencia de  poblaci&oacute;n microbiana heter&oacute;trofa. El recuento de viables se realiz&oacute; a partir de  la soluci&oacute;n salina, realiz&aacute;ndose diluciones y se inocul&oacute; en placa [16]. La  poblaci&oacute;n degradadora de hidrocarburos se determin&oacute; a partir de la poblaci&oacute;n  heter&oacute;trofa. Un mL de la fase acuosa se a&ntilde;adi&oacute; en 9 mL de medio nitrogenado [17].  Se a&ntilde;adi&oacute; 1 mL de la fuente de carbono a evaluar (petr&oacute;leo), se incub&oacute; durante 48 a 72 horas y se procedi&oacute;  igual que en la determinaci&oacute;n de la poblaci&oacute;n heter&oacute;trofa.</font></font></p>     <p align="justify"><font size="2"><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><a><strong>Determinaci&oacute;n  de la actividad respirom&eacute;trica del suelo</strong></a></font></font></p>     <p align="justify"><font size="2"><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Las muestras de suelo se ajustaron a 60 % de  capacidad de campo y se mantuvieron a temperatura ambiente del laboratorio (27 &ordm;C aproximadamente). En un  recipiente de vidrio con cierre herm&eacute;tico se dispuso 10 g de suelo contaminada.</font></font></p>     <p align="justify"><font size="2"><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Se realizaron los siguientes tratamientos:</font></font></p>     <p align="justify"><font size="2"><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Tratamiento I.&nbsp; Control     <br>   Tratamiento II. Suelo con lodos de digesti&oacute;n  anaerobia (1:1 m/m)    <br>   Tratamiento III. Suelo con pleurotina (1:1 m/m)</font></font></p>     <p align="justify"><font size="2"><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">En el recipiente se dispuso un vial con 10 mL  de hidr&oacute;xido de sodio (NaOH) c(x/z*)=0,2 mol/L para absorber el di&oacute;xido de  carbono (CO<sub>2</sub>) producido por la actividad microbiana del suelo. Durante  15 d&iacute;as se valor&oacute; la cantidad de NaOH remanente con &aacute;cido clorh&iacute;drico (HCl)  c(x/z*)= 0,1 mol/L y se reemplaz&oacute; por otro vial con 10 mL de NaOH. Previo a la  valoraci&oacute;n se a&ntilde;adieron 10 mL de cloruro de bario (BaCl2) c(x/z*)= 0,2  mol/L para precipitar los carbonatos y 3 gotas de fenolftale&iacute;na como indicador.</font></font></p>     ]]></body>
<body><![CDATA[<p align="justify"><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><a><strong>Ensayos en microcosmos</strong></a></font></p>     <p align="justify"><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Los microcosmos se prepararon en 9 bandejas  de aluminio con 600 g  de suelo cada una. Se realizaron los tres tratamientos ya descritos en el  ensayo de actividad respirom&eacute;trica del suelo. Durante 12 semanas se determin&oacute;  cada 7 d&iacute;as la materia org&aacute;nica extra&iacute;ble.</font></p>     <p align="justify"><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><strong><em>Caracterizaci&oacute;n de lodos de digesti&oacute;n anaerobia  y pleurotina</em></strong></font></p>     <p align="justify"><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">El lodo procedi&oacute; de un digestor anaerobio de  primera generaci&oacute;n utilizado para el tratamiento de esti&eacute;rcol vacuno y la  pleurotina de la planta experimental de producci&oacute;n de setas comestibles (<em>Pleurotus ostreatus</em>). Ambos sustratos de  trabajo fueron suministrados por el Centro de Estudios de Biotecnolog&iacute;a  Industrial (CEBI) de la   Universidad de Oriente (Cuba).</font></p>     <p align="justify"><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Tanto al lodo de digestión anaerobia como a la pleurotina se le realizaron los análisis de nitrógeno, fósforo, población microbiana heterótrofa y degradadora de hidrocarburos según procedimientos descritos anteriormente.</font></p>     <p align="justify">&nbsp;</p>     <p align="justify"><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="3"><strong>RESULTADOS</strong></font> <strong><font size="3" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Y DISCUSION</font></strong><font size="3" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"></font></p>     <p align="justify"><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">El an&aacute;lisis granulom&eacute;trico permite evaluar  las propiedades de las fracciones de los suelos. En este caso el suelo est&aacute;  compuesto por un 76,7 % de arena; 6,9 % de grava y 16,4 % de arcilla, por lo  cual se considera como un suelo arenoso. Los suelos arenosos son f&aacute;cilmente  cultivables, con buena aireaci&oacute;n y poca capacidad de retenci&oacute;n de agua y de  nutrientes, debido al gran tama&ntilde;o de poros que los caracteriza [18]. Sin  embargo, los ensayos de aireaci&oacute;n del suelo detectaron que los suelos presentan  un d&eacute;ficit de ox&iacute;geno, relacionado con la presencia de petr&oacute;leo en el suelo,  situaci&oacute;n que limita la circulaci&oacute;n de aire y medio acuoso ed&aacute;fico.</font></p>     <p align="justify"><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Se determin&oacute; el contenido de HCs como EOT para  evaluar las fracciones de petr&oacute;leo que destilan entre 60-500 &ordm;C (naftas, kerosinas,  diesel, crudo de petr&oacute;leo y gasoil de vac&iacute;o ligero y pesado) empleando el  n-hexano como uno de los solventes m&aacute;s descritos en extracci&oacute;n de hidrocarburos.  El EOT fue de 107,5 g/kg de suelo. Este extracto oleoso puede contener  parafinas no vol&aacute;tiles (n-alcanos), naftenos (cicloalcanos), hidrocarburos  arom&aacute;ticos, resinas y asfaltenos. Se realiz&oacute; la extracci&oacute;n de EOT del suelo  libre de contaminaci&oacute;n, mostrando como resultado que con este solvente s&oacute;lo se  extraen hidrocarburos y no la materia org&aacute;nica propia del suelo. El contenido  de s&oacute;lidos totales fue de un 96,3 %. Durante este tratamiento a 105 &ordm;C realizado para la  determinaci&oacute;n de s&oacute;lidos totales, desaparece el olor a hidrocarburos ya que se  volatilizan parafinas, isoparafinas y naftenos de bajo peso molecular con  temperatura de ebullici&oacute;n entre 20 y 150 &ordm;C. S&oacute;lo se detect&oacute; un 7 % de s&oacute;lidos  vol&aacute;tiles, valor que coincide con el contenido de COT, lo que hace suponer que  el COT procede del contaminante. La fracci&oacute;n inorg&aacute;nica o mineral, expresada  por los s&oacute;lidos totales fijos fue de un 93 %.</font></p>     <p align="justify"><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">La humedad en el suelo es fundamental para la  evoluci&oacute;n y desarrollo de los microorganismos presentes en &eacute;l. La capacidad de  campo es una medida del contenido de agua que retiene el suelo; es decir marca  el l&iacute;mite entre el agua capilar y la gravitacional (m&aacute;xima cantidad de agua que  puede retener el suelo despu&eacute;s de tres d&iacute;as de aporte de agua). Se determin&oacute;  una capacidad de campo de 9,68 %, indicando la baja retenci&oacute;n de agua por ser  un suelo arenoso; adem&aacute;s, la cantidad de hidrocarburos presente tambi&eacute;n es un  factor que impide la retenci&oacute;n del agua y el desarrollo de microorganismos. Un  d&eacute;ficit de agua puede disminuir el transporte de nutrientes y de contaminantes  y la migraci&oacute;n bacteriana a trav&eacute;s del suelo; y por el contrario, el exceso  desplaza el aire de los poros del suelo, gener&aacute;ndose condiciones anaerobias al  agotarse el ox&iacute;geno disuelto en agua. Es por esto que en los procesos de  biorremediaci&oacute;n se recomienda mantener la humedad al 60 % de la capacidad de  campo [19].</font></p>     ]]></body>
<body><![CDATA[<p align="justify"><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Otros factores que condicionan los estudios  de biorremediaci&oacute;n son el pH y los nutrientes que posea el suelo. El pH del  suelo fue 7,2 unidades, valor que est&aacute; dentro del rango &oacute;ptimo (6-8 unidades)  para la actividad microbiana. El contenido de nitr&oacute;geno y f&oacute;sforo en el suelo  es&nbsp; 2.7 x 10<sup>-5</sup> mg/g de suelo y  9.5 x 10<sup>-10</sup> mg/g de suelo respectivamente, siendo insuficiente para que la  poblaci&oacute;n microbiana pueda asimilar y degradar los componentes del petr&oacute;leo. El  metabolismo microbiano requiere fuente de carbono, nitr&oacute;geno y f&oacute;sforo  fundamentalmente. La fuente de carbono puede ser el hidrocarburo al aportar el  carbono necesario para producir compuestos celulares y biomasa. El nitr&oacute;geno  interviene en la s&iacute;ntesis de amino&aacute;cidos y enzimas, y el f&oacute;sforo act&uacute;a en la  formaci&oacute;n de los compuestos energ&eacute;ticos celulares que se utilizan en los  procesos de s&iacute;ntesis y degradaci&oacute;n [16].</font></p>     <p align="justify"><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Dado que la utilizaci&oacute;n de estos  compuestos es muy r&aacute;pida, los suelos no alcanzan a cubrir todas las necesidades  metab&oacute;licas y deben ser incorporados en fertilizantes agr&iacute;colas en forma de  urea o sulfato de amonio, y en algunos estudios se ha utilizado nitrato. No  obstante, el uso excesivo de nutrientes inorg&aacute;nicos puede inhibir los procesos  de biodegradaci&oacute;n por la posible interacci&oacute;n qu&iacute;mica con los minerales del  suelo [8], [20].</font></p>     <p align="justify"><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Para determinar si es adecuado un determinado  tratamiento biol&oacute;gico se necesita evaluar el comportamiento de las poblaciones  microbianas, la degradaci&oacute;n del contaminante y las condiciones medioambientales  m&aacute;s favorables para el sistema creado. La biodegradaci&oacute;n se lleva a cabo si  existe poblaci&oacute;n microbiana y adem&aacute;s est&aacute; adaptada al sustrato, es decir, si  posee las enzimas que catalizan las reacciones de degradaci&oacute;n de los  hidrocarburos. La complejidad de la composici&oacute;n del petr&oacute;leo y sus derivados, requiere  la existencia de una amplia capacidad enzim&aacute;tica para lograr su degradaci&oacute;n. Las  poblaciones individuales pueden metabolizar un n&uacute;mero limitado de  hidrocarburos, sin embargo, las mixtas son capaces de degradar compuestos  hidrocarbonados complejos y mezclas de ellos tanto en suelos como en aguas,  asimilando estos compuestos como fuente de carbono [9].</font></p>     <p align="justify"><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">En el suelo objeto de an&aacute;lisis, la poblaci&oacute;n  heter&oacute;trofa de bacterias fue de 4 x 10<sup>6</sup> UFC/g de suelo, no  detect&aacute;ndose hongos y levaduras. Es m&aacute;s frecuente encontrar bacterias adaptadas  a estos compuestos que hongos y levaduras en el suelo. La poblaci&oacute;n degradadora  de hidrocarburos result&oacute; ser 10 UFC/g de suelo. Estos resultados evidencian una  poblaci&oacute;n microbiana deprimida, lo que sugiere la biorremediaci&oacute;n por  bioestimulaci&oacute;n o bioaumentaci&oacute;n o una combinaci&oacute;n de ambas estrategias. Se  puede lograr un incremento importante de la poblaci&oacute;n microbiana con la incorporaci&oacute;n  de nutrientes, la cual siempre es mejor que introducir poblaci&oacute;n ex&oacute;gena al  sitio contaminado, pero cuando esta poblaci&oacute;n no es suficiente es necesario  aplicar la bioaumentaci&oacute;n. Zanaroli y col. [2] describen la degradaci&oacute;n  componentes paraf&iacute;nicos del diesel con un consorcio comercial de  microorganismos ya que una poblaci&oacute;n microbiana mixta es m&aacute;s eficiente que un  microorganismo puro.</font></p>     <p align="justify"><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Considerando la baja concentraci&oacute;n de  nutrientes y la pobre poblaci&oacute;n microbiana en el suelo, se determin&oacute; estimular  las poblaciones existentes. La pleurotina se comporta como un fertilizante  org&aacute;nico y como un acondicionador de los suelos por los altos valores de  nutrientes que posee. Los resultados obtenidos seg&uacute;n Berm&uacute;dez y col. [11] para  el cultivo de ajo puerro chino (<em>Allium chinese  G.</em> Don), muestra valores superiores en los efectos de las plantas que si se  utiliza humus de lombriz, debido a los nutrientes que &eacute;ste posee. Por otro  lado, los lodos de digesti&oacute;n anaerobia son considerados como bioabono porque  poseen un contenido de nutrientes dentro del rango contenido los abonos  org&aacute;nicos empleados en la agricultura cubana y es muy similar al humus de  lombriz. Adem&aacute;s se ha descrito que este lodo contiene hormonas reguladoras del  desarrollo vegetal (&aacute;cido indolac&eacute;tico, &aacute;cido indolbut&iacute;rico y &eacute;steres de &aacute;cido  indolac&eacute;tico) que unida a sus otras propiedades hacen atractivo su uso para  lograr el desarrollo de los cultivos [10], [21]. Los valores de nitr&oacute;geno y  f&oacute;sforo en el lodo resultaron son muy cercanos a los del suelo contaminado con  petr&oacute;leo 2.6 x 10<sup>-5</sup> mg/g de suelo y 7.8 x 10<sup>-10</sup> mg/g de  suelo, respectivamente; mientras que en la pleurotina se obtuvieron valores m&aacute;s  altos, 3.4 x 10<sup>-2</sup> mg/g de nitr&oacute;geno y 4 x 10<sup>-4</sup> mg/g de  f&oacute;sforo. Estos resultados evidencian que la pleurotina ofrece mayores  potencialidades que el lodo para ser utilizado en la bioestimulaci&oacute;n de la  biota ind&iacute;gena del suelo.</font></p>     <p align="justify"><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Se comprob&oacute; la existencia de microorganismos  tanto en el lodo como en la pleurotina. La poblaci&oacute;n heter&oacute;trofa de bacterias  en el lodo fue de 4 x 10<sup>7</sup> UFC/g de lodos y en la pleurotina fue 5 x  10<sup>12</sup> UFC/g de pleurotina. Se determinaron 4 x 10<sup>7</sup> UFC/g  de pleurotina de levaduras en la pleurotina. La poblaci&oacute;n degradadora de  hidrocarburos result&oacute; 105 UFC/g de lodos y, en la pleurotina, 2 x 10<sup>3</sup>  UFC/g de pleurotina para bacterias y 3 x 10<sup>2</sup> UFC/g de  pleurotina para levaduras. En ninguna de la muestras se observ&oacute; crecimiento de  hongos. La poblaci&oacute;n degradadora de hidrocarburos en el lodo es superior a la  detectada en el suelo contaminado, lo que contribuye a bioaumentar la  microbiota del suelo.</font></p>     <p align="justify"><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Ambos subproductos biotecnol&oacute;gicos pueden  aplicarse en biorremediaci&oacute;n por bioaumentaci&oacute;n, pues poseen poblaci&oacute;n  degradadora de hidrocarburos.</font></p>     <p align="justify"><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Aunque la mayor&iacute;a de las investigaciones  describen la degradaci&oacute;n de fracciones de hidrocarburos con poblaciones  bacterianas, tambi&eacute;n se pueden encontrar referencias sobre la participaci&oacute;n de hongos.  Volke y col. [22] refiere la biodegradaci&oacute;n de altas concentraciones de  hexadecano utilizando <em>Aspergillus niger</em>.  Resulta llamativo que en la pleurotina no existan micelios de hongos de <em>Pleurotus ostreatus</em>, el cual es un hongo  ligninol&iacute;tico capaz de degradar e incluso mineralizar compuestos de hidrocarburos.  Las condiciones de almacenaje de la pleurotina pueden influir en la detecci&oacute;n  de micelios de <em>Pleurotus </em>puesto que  este material se seca al sol (31-36 <sup>o</sup>C) y posteriormente se almacena  para su uso. Para estudios en los que se realiza la bioaumentaci&oacute;n se ha  utilizado una amplia gama de hongos de pudrici&oacute;n blanca en la remediaci&oacute;n de  suelos contaminados. La composici&oacute;n del complejo enzim&aacute;tico ligninol&iacute;tico var&iacute;a  en diferentes especies de hongos de pudrici&oacute;n blanca, no obstante las enzimas  ligninoperoxidasa, maganesoperoxidasa y las lacasas resultan ser las  mayoritariamente detectadas, adem&aacute;s de ser correlacionadas con los procesos de  degradaci&oacute;n de contaminantes por estos organismos [23], [24]. Los resultados  evidencian que el lodo de digesti&oacute;n anaerobia es el de mayor poblaci&oacute;n de  bacterias degradadora de hidrocarburos, con el cual, se puede lograr un  incremento importante de la poblaci&oacute;n microbiana del suelo. Sin embargo, aunque  en la pleurotina el n&uacute;mero de bacterias degradadoras fue menor, se presenta una  mayor diversidad pues se observaron tambi&eacute;n levaduras.</font></p>     <p align="justify"><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">La actividad metab&oacute;lica de los  microorganismos puede evaluarse mediante la evoluci&oacute;n de CO<sub>2</sub>  producido por la microbiota ind&iacute;gena del suelo. En la <a href="#f0106315">figura 1</a> se observa el comportamiento de la actividad respirom&eacute;trica para  los diferentes tratamientos con respecto al tiempo. En el tiempo inicial, la  actividad respirom&eacute;trica es mayor cuando se a&ntilde;ade al suelo la pleurotina y los  lodos de digesti&oacute;n, probablemente influenciado por la carga microbiana aerobia  que posee cada subproducto biotecnol&oacute;gico. En el suelo sin tratar aumenta la  actividad respirom&eacute;trica ligeramente durante los primeros 8 d&iacute;as para  permanecer constante en 0,5 mmol de CO<sub>2</sub>. Esta baja producci&oacute;n de CO<sub>2</sub>  se debe al poco crecimiento de los microorganismos en este suelo sin  tratamiento. Los procesos en que tiene lugar la biodegradaci&oacute;n natural de  hidrocarburos son muy lentos, adem&aacute;s no existen en este suelo los nutrientes  necesarios para el desarrollo de los microorganismos aut&oacute;ctonos. Las  concentraciones de nitr&oacute;geno - f&oacute;sforo asimilables presentes en el suelo,  suelen ser limitantes para un incremento o activaci&oacute;n de la poblaci&oacute;n  microbiana [24].</font></p>     <p align="center"><a name="f0106315"></a><img src="/img/revistas/rtq/v35n3/f0106315.jpg"></p>

<body><![CDATA[<p align="justify"><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Para el caso del tratamiento con lodos de digesti&oacute;n  anaerobia la actividad respirom&eacute;trica aument&oacute; despu&eacute;s del noveno d&iacute;a de  experimentaci&oacute;n (<a href="#f0106315">figura 1</a>), es probable que a partir de ese d&iacute;a pueda decirse que  la evoluci&oacute;n de CO<sub>2</sub> se deba a la degradaci&oacute;n del contaminante y por  consiguiente a la oxidaci&oacute;n del hidrocarburo. Seg&uacute;n se evidencia, la existencia  de una mayor poblaci&oacute;n degradadora de hidrocarburos en el lodo anaerobio puede  estimular este proceso en la medida en que intermediarios de la degradaci&oacute;n del  contaminante asimilables por estas bacterias, est&eacute;n disponibles para su  metabolismo. Esta situaci&oacute;n pudo condicionar el comportamiento del sistema de  modo similar al sistema no tratado. Quiz&aacute;s por eso el comportamiento metab&oacute;lico  inicial sea similar al control y posterior al noveno d&iacute;a se vea incrementado. En  el tratamiento con pleurotina (<a href="#f0106315">figura 1</a>), se obtuvieron mejores resultados al  obtenerse mayor acumulaci&oacute;n de CO<sub>2</sub> al final del experimento. Es  significativo que adem&aacute;s esta actividad fuera mantenida, resultado de la mayor  cantidad de microorganismos presentes en la pleurotina comparado con el suelo  de partida; pero igual mayor diversidad microbiana y por tanto, mayores grupos  ecofisiol&oacute;gicos y metabolismos degradativos que permitir&iacute;an el mayor  aprovechamiento de los nutrientes presentes en el mismo, incluso del propio  contaminante.</font></p>     <p align="justify"><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">El suelo tratado con lodos de digesti&oacute;n  anaerobia y pleurotina permiti&oacute; dise&ntilde;ar un proceso de bioestimulaci&oacute;n y  bioaumentaci&oacute;n simult&aacute;neo al aprovechar los nutrientes que aportan ambos  sustratos org&aacute;nicos, adem&aacute;s de la microflora presente en los mismos, rica en  organismos degradadores de hidrocarburos como es el lodo anaerobio.</font></p>     <p align="justify"><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Los ensayos en microcosmos, simulan  condiciones ambientales pr&oacute;ximas a situaciones de biorremediaci&oacute;n. Estos son  experimentos que duran meses e incluso algunos autores reportan los resultados  al a&ntilde;o. Se determin&oacute; el contenido de HCs como EOT durante 12 semanas para  evaluar la posible biodegradaci&oacute;n del contaminante. La biodegradaci&oacute;n de  hidrocarburos en suelos arenosos es dif&iacute;cil para las poblaciones microbianas ya  que el proceso est&aacute; influenciado por fen&oacute;menos de transporte, adem&aacute;s de los  factores bi&oacute;ticos y abi&oacute;ticos [8].</font></p>     <p align="justify"><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">En la <a href="#f0206315">figura  2</a> se muestra el contenido de HCs expresado en EOT para los distintos  tratamientos durante las 12 semanas de experimento. En el suelo natural no se observaron  signos de degradaci&oacute;n, evidenciado por el mantenimiento del EOT, debido a que  la poblaci&oacute;n degradadora de hidrocarburos existente en el suelo es  insuficiente, y adem&aacute;s al d&eacute;ficit de fuentes nitrogenadas y fosfatadas capaces  de intervenir en los procesos de asimilaci&oacute;n del contaminante. Sin&nbsp; embargo, cuando se fertiliza y se bioaumenta  la poblaci&oacute;n ind&iacute;gena del suelo con lodos de digesti&oacute;n anaerobia se logra una disminuci&oacute;n  desde los inicios hasta la cuarta semana de experimentaci&oacute;n, tiempo en el cual  se estabiliza la degradaci&oacute;n hasta la octava semana. Luego ocurre una ligera disminuci&oacute;n  de EOT en la octava semana, que antecede al incremento de la actividad  respirom&eacute;trica (<a href="#f0106315">figura 1</a>) y se mantiene constante hasta alcanzar un valor de EOT  de 79 g/kg de suelo. Esto es un indicio de lo que se plante&oacute; anteriormente, de  la disponibilidad paulatina de intermediarios de la degradaci&oacute;n de hidrocarburos  asimilables por las bacterias presentes en este sustrato.&nbsp; Cuando se fertiliza y se bioaumenta con  pleurotina (<a href="#f0206315">figura 2</a>) es m&aacute;s r&aacute;pida la respuesta, evidenci&aacute;ndose por la  diminuci&oacute;n de EOT desde la primera hasta la d&eacute;cima semana de experimentaci&oacute;n,  tiempo en el cual se estabiliza con un valor de 56 g/kg de suelo, para un 52 %  de remoci&oacute;n. En la degradaci&oacute;n inciden tanto la diversidad y mayor cantidad de  organismos heter&oacute;trofos detectados, como el enriquecimiento de este suelo con  los nutrientes que aporta el mismo. Tambi&eacute;n pueden estar presentes enzimas  ligninol&iacute;ticas y sustratos facilitadores de procesos de peroxidaci&oacute;n como  &aacute;cidos org&aacute;nicos, los que podr&iacute;an activarse en presencia del contaminante;  compuestos en los cuales este sustrato resultante del crecimiento del hongo <em>Pleurotus sp</em>. es rico [13]. Los valores  de remoci&oacute;n obtenidos en este trabajo son superiores a los alcanzados con  fertilizaciones inorg&aacute;nicas en los cuales s&oacute;lo disminuy&oacute; aproximadamente un 40  % de EOT [8]. Otros investigadores han obtenido resultados  similares, en condiciones naturales, depositando in&oacute;culos de estirpes  miceliales del hongo en el suelo y constatando la reducci&oacute;n de hasta el 40 %  para diferentes mol&eacute;culas de hidrocarburos arom&aacute;ticos polic&iacute;clicos [25].</font></p>     <p align="center"><a name="f0206315"></a><img src="/img/revistas/rtq/v35n3/f0206315.jpg"></p>     
<p align="justify">&nbsp;</p>     <p align="justify"><strong><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="3">CONCLUSIONES</font></strong></p>     <p align="justify"><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">El suelo analizado es  arenoso, con un contenido de extracto org&aacute;nico total soluble en solventes  org&aacute;nicos de 107,5 g/kg de suelo, y con una poblaci&oacute;n microbiana muy deprimida.  La mayor remoci&oacute;n de HCs en el suelo arenoso evaluado se obtiene al a&ntilde;adir  pleurotina; combin&aacute;ndose la bioaumentaci&oacute;n y bioestimulaci&oacute;n de la poblaci&oacute;n  microbiana, por el alto contenido de nutrientes y la poblaci&oacute;n degradadora de  hidrocarburos presentes en el sustrato. Se pueden ensayar simult&aacute;neamente ambas  estrategias de biorremediaci&oacute;n en suelos contaminados con hidrocarburos, empleando  como sustratos residuos org&aacute;nicos de procesos biotecnol&oacute;gicos.</font></p>     <p align="justify">&nbsp;</p>     <p align="justify"><strong><font size="3" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">BIBLIOGRAFIA</font></strong></p>     ]]></body>
