<self-uri xlink:href="http://scielo.sld.cu/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&amp;pid=S2304-01062022000100032&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://scielo.sld.cu/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&amp;pid=S2304-01062022000100032&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://scielo.sld.cu/scielo.php?script=sci_pdf&amp;pid=S2304-01062022000100032&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[RESUMEN  Introducción:  La introducción de la COVID-19 en el país ha generado una reestructuración de los servicios médicos en todas las provincias y la actividad quirúrgica se ha reducido al tratamiento de las urgencias y emergencias quirúrgicas, dentro de las cuales se han incluido las cirugías oncológicas.  Objetivo:  Presentar una serie de pacientes intervenidos neuroquirúrgicamente por diferentes variantes de tumores cerebrales durante el período de tiempo que el país ha estado expuesto a la pandemia del COVID-19.  Métodos:  Se realizó un estudio descriptivo con 22 pacientes operados por tumores cerebrales en los que se aplicó un nuevo sistema de trabajo como consecuencia del reordenamiento de los servicios médicos y quirúrgicos en la provincia.  Resultados:  En el período de tiempo comprendido entre febrero del 2020 y mayo del 2021 se operaron 22 casos, predominaron los de origen astrocítico 7 (31,81 %), del total de casos, 13 pacientes (59,09 %) salieron de la cirugía con secuelas ligeras o sin secuelas. En los pacientes con astrocitomas, 5 (71,42 %) se encontraron en el grado V de la escala de resultados de Glasgow, mientras que 8 pacientes fallecieron (36,36 %).  Conclusiones:  Con la adherencia al sistema de trabajo utilizado, no presentamos contagio en pacientes ni en especialistas en nuestro servicio, en consecuencia, no hemos presentado fallecidos infectados con COVID-19.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT  Introduction: Objectivs: to present a series of patients who underwent neurosurgical surgery for different variants of brain tumors during the period of time that the country has been exposed to the COVID-19 pandemic.  Method:  A descriptive study was carried out with 22 patients operated on brain tumors in which a new work system was applied as a consequence of the reorganization of medical and surgical services in the province as a result of the pandemic.  Results:  In the period of time between February 2020 and May 2021, 22 cases underwent a surgical operation, predominantly those of astrocytic origin, that is, 7 (31.81%). 13 patients (59.09%) suffered mild or no sequelae after surgery. Among patients with astrocytoma, 5 (71.42%) fit into grade V of the Glasgow Outcome Scale; eight patients died (36.36%).  Conclusions:  With adherence to the work system used, we did not suffer contagion in patients or specialists in our department; consequently, we have not had any deaths infected with COVID-19.]]></p></abstract>
