Para su evaluación, el estudio estimó el Dióxido de Azufre (SO2), Óxidos de Nitrógeno (NOX), y el Material Particulado menor de 10 y 2,5 micrómetros (PM10 y PM2,5), emitidos por generadores de vapor de centrales azucareros de la provincia de Holguín. Se utilizó el método de cálculo basado en el factor de emisión para determinar la tasa de emisión de estos contaminantes. Como resultado fundamental se obtuvo que los generadores de vapor de los centrales azucareros evaluados emiten principalmente PM10 (10 675,835 t/año), PM2,5 (5 330,389 t/año), y NOX (903,456 t/año) y en menor medida SO2 (376,440 t/año); valores de emisiones que superan a los de los generadores de vapor convencionales que emplean hidrocarburos como combustible, pero menores a los de termoeléctricas y grupos electrógenos. La comparación de las emisiones máximas admisibles con respecto a la NC/TS 803: 2017, para la categoría de fuentes existentes, demostró que se sobrepasan los valores establecidos para el PM10 y PM2,5 de todas las chimeneas y en el caso de los NOX sólo los centrales López Peña y Cristino Naranjo superan la norma, para el SO2 ninguna de las emisiones sobrepasa el máximo valor fijado.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT The high emissions of pollutants into the atmosphere are the cause of various environmental problems today, from the local level, to the global scale. For its evaluation, the study estimated Sulfur Dioxide (SO2), Nitrogen Oxides (NOX), and Particulate Material smaller than 10 and 2.5 micrometers (PM10 and PM2.5), emitted by steam generators of sugar mills from the province of Holguin. The calculation method based on the emission factor was used to determine the emission rate of these pollutants. As a fundamental result it was obtained that the steam generators of the sugar mills evaluated emit mainly PM10 (10 675,835 t / year), PM2.5 (5 330,389 t / year), and NOX (903,456 t / year) and to a lesser extent SO2 (376,440 t / year); emission values &#8203;&#8203;that exceed those of conventional steam generators that use hydrocarbons as fuel, but lower than those of thermoelectric and generator sets. The comparison of the maximum permissible emissions with respect to NC / TS 803: 2010, for the category of existing sources, showed that the values &#8203;&#8203;established for the PM10 and PM2.5 of all chimneys are exceeded and in the case of NOX only the López Peña and Cristino Naranjo plants exceed the standard, for SO2 none of the emissions exceeds the maximum set value.]]></p></abstract>
