Since January 2001, Humanidades Médicas is the four-monthly scientific publication of the Center for the Development of Social Sciences and Humanities in Health (CENDECSA). The journal covers a wide range of Social Sciences and Humanities: Philosophy, Ethics, Bioethics, Esthetics, History, History of Medicine and Public Health, Social Studies of Science and Technology, Sociology, Psychology, Pedagogy, Health Communication, Linguistics, Applied Linguistics, and Teaching of English as a Foreign Language.

The journal accepts the publication of essays, theoretical reflections, and other sections, which present the results of research and innovation of the professional community from health care centers. Humanidades Médicas evaluates, edits, and publishes materials, which become an important body of knowledge within the improvement of public health and the Cuban School of Medical Education.
