Abstract

This work evaluated the environmental management in three subsidiaries -one of them operates locally, and the others, nationally- of Unión Eléctrica de Cuba -the stated-owned utility responsible for managing and operating the electric grid-, by using ISO 14001 standard that defines criteria for an environmental management system. A cost-benefit analysis was performed, taking into account the literature on this subject, and measuring direct and indirect variation in these three subsidiary companies belonging to the Cuban energy sector between 2009 and 2016.
