Abstract

VEGA, E et al. MATERNAL DERIVED ANTIBODIES AGAINST CLASSICAL SWINE FEVER VIRUS IN PIGLETS FROM SOWS IMMUNIZED WITH A VACCINE CANDIDATE OF SUBUNIT PROTEIN (E2). Rev Salud Anim. [online]. 2011, vol.33, n.1, pp. 51-56. ISSN 0253-570X.

To determine the duration of maternal neutralizing antibodies in their offspring, six gilts seronegative to classical swine fever virus (CSFV) were immunized with the subunit vaccine candidate against CSFV based on glycoprotein E2. A first dose of the vaccine candidate was applied after detection of estrus, and a second dose 21 days later. Six sows with at least three previous immunizations with the live modified vaccines based on the Chinese lapinised strain and maximum of 6 months since the last application of the vaccination were immunized with one dose of live modified vaccine based on the Chinese lapinised strain (LABIOFAM) a week before detection of estrus. Two groups were conformed with offspring from both groups of sows. The maternal derived antibodies titers from 2 weeks to 8 weeks old were determined. The maternal derived antibodies titers of subunit vaccine candidate E2 were significantly higher during the period evaluated with a duration of protective titers until 8 weeks of age. In offspring from mothers vaccinated with the live attenuated vaccine protective maternal derived antibodies titers until the second week of age were observed.

Keywords : Classical swine fever; maternal derived antibodies; vaccine subunit; vaccine Chinese lapinised strain.
