Abstract

The defense or protection of consumers and users in the national context is not a new problem, while Cuba was a pioneer in the formulation of a consumer protection law as early as January 1960 and although it has been the object of attention on the part of the governmental structures, it has not had an ascending path in our country. In the content of the present work the origins and development of the protection to the consumers and users until the present moment are exposed and the role that the State and the administration have to play in the preservation of the rights of consumers and users, showing besides, the current challenges existing today, given the lack of a law with a broad sectoral focus, regulate the procedures, while reflecting proposals that promote the defense or protection of consumers and users in the country.
