Abstract

The cassava is a basic food for many rural families of low resources; it has constituted a valuable food from times of the aboriginal ones, a lot before the arrival of the Spaniards forming part of the selection of roots and tubers that the Cubans commonly denominate viandas. In this work the main aspect of this kind of cultivation are approached as for their importance, botanical characteristics, planting time, commercial clones, as well as propagation forms and the experiences achieved in seed dissemination and/or varieties.
