Immnoglobulin D(IgD) is one of the proteins present in human serum and the least known as far as its biological function is concerned. At present the number of studies of serum IgD in different diseases has increased since it has been demonstrated that IgD is involved in certain febrile disorders in children and plays a role in the immune response given by its expression in B lymphocyte membrane as part of the antigenic receptor. Our paper reviews the properties of IgD, its role in the immune response and its relation with various diseases
