Abstract

786 matched sera from patients with clinical suspicion with epidemiolopgical evidence of leptospirosis or without it were studied by the hemagglutination (HA) and microagglutination (MAT) techniques as a reference technique (gold standard) aimed at comparing the results obtained by both serologic tests. It was observed that 386 sera (46.8 %) tested positive only by MAT, which showed a highly signficant difference between the 2 techniques used.
