Abstract

A study was conducted in 96 houses of the community of Jaimanitas that receive attention at the "Dr. Manuel Fajardo Rivero" Polyclinic in order to identify those problems related to family health that exert an unfavorable influence on the families of this area. The procedure was carried out through quantitative and descriptive methods of investigation. The FF SIL test that measures the family functioning and a questionnarie made to this end were used. It was observed that 52.1 % of family dysfunction result from divorce, psychiatrics diseases, alcoholism and the loss of a member of the family that leaves the country. The low economic level proved to be a risk factors for family dysfunction.
