Studies of metabolic screening have disclosed in our area inadequate samples that have been rejected, so it has been necessary to repeat them. The objectives, purposes and requirements for the performance of this technique are explained in this paper together with WHO criteria for including a disease in the screening program. Likewise, an updating is given about one of the diseases included in the endocrine-metabolic screening.
