Abstract

ALVAREZ SINTES, Roberto  and  BARCOS PINA, Indira. Experience in the design and implementation of the program for training community health promoters in the context of the "Barrio Adentro" Mission. Rev Cubana Med Gen Integr [online]. 2004, vol.20, n.5-6, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1561-3038.

The experience in the design and implementation of a program to give an answer to the current social demand was determined. This program extended progressively from the "Santa Eduvigis" People's Physician's Office to Aragua State and all over the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. One of the ways to get more efficiently to the different social groups is through the own members of the community capable of acting on their own group, modifying the standing culture that favors social automatization, substituting the isolation of every individual and of the group for a new solidarity and protagonic participation that paves the way for the social change that gradually consolidates the community power as the own population with its natural leaders plays a protagonic role to improve its living conditions, and exercise a real participative democracy by means of the planning, implementation and control of the public health policies, as it is stated in the constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. In this sense, the curricular desing for training the community health promoters, is the response of the "Barrio Adentro" Mission to achieve this purpose.
