Abstract

MARTINEZ, María A; SURIS, Moraima  and  BLANCO, E. MEALYBUG (HEMIPTERA: COCCOIDEA) FAUNA ASSOCIATED TO PLANTS OF INTEREST: V GARDEN AND CUT FLOWERS. Rev. Protección Veg. [online]. 2009, vol.24, n.2, pp. 123-125. ISSN 2224-4697.

Samplings carried out in eight flowers in different regions of the country showed the presence of 10 mealybug species belonging to the genera Dysmicoccus Ferris; Ferrisia Fullaway;, Mammicoccus Balachowsky, Nipaecoccus Sulc; Paracoccus Ezzat and Mc Connell; Phenacoccus Cokerell and Pseudococcus Westwood. Nipaecoccus nipae (Maskell), Paracoccus marginatus Williams and Granara de Willink and Pseudococcus longispinus (Targioni) were the species with the highest frequency; and Papaver rhoeas L. (amapola) and Tithonia diversifolia Hemsl. (margarita) were the two species with the highest number of mealybugs with four species each one.
