Areas of production at the Livestock Enterprise of Marti in Matanzas province, Cuba were sampled from December 2013 to February 2014 to determine the species of noxious insects associated with the chickpea crop (Cicer arietinum L.). Nine species belonging to three orders and families were found, among which Anticarsia gemmatalis Hubner and Euschistus sp. were reported for the first time for the crop. Helicoverpa zea Hubner showed the highest frequency of occurrence and caused serious damages on pods and grains; thus, it was recognized as the main pest affecting this crop in our province.
