Abstract

The results obtained with the application of the model Big 6 tm for the search and organization of the information available in the area of the teaching competences are exposed based on the needs existing in this matter among the professors and students of “Dr. Ignacio Chávez” Faculty of Biological and Medical Sciences of the University of Michoacana, in San Nicolas de Hidalgo, Mexico. Information was identified, selected, classified, analyzed, synthesized and evaluated to obtain the necessary data and information on teaching competences. The keywords were identified, and appropriate information recovery descriptors, as well as different directories, search engines, databases, and organizations' sites, among others resources, were explored aimed at identifying and analyzing the existing competences and the Web-based teaching theories, the use and effectiveness of the multimedia materials, the virtual education modalities, as well as the teaching and the strategies for incorporating information and communication technologies in higher education.
