Abstract

LUJAN RISCO, Yusimy; HERNANDEZ PUPO, Onaida; RODRIGUEZ PARGAS, Aymara  and  ABREU VIAMONTES, Claudio. Behavior of falls in the elderly in a health area. AMC [online]. 2002, vol.6, n.2, pp. 180-186. ISSN 1025-0255.

A cross - sectional study was performed for knowing the behavior of folling in the elderly in a health area belonging to Carlos J. Finlay teaching communitary polyclinic at Camagüey municipality during 2000. The study universe was composed of 81 patients of 60 years old and over who within this period suffered any fall and attended to femenine; physiologic changes of vision presented in the 96, 3 % of the aged, pathologies of the osteomyoarticular system manfested in 77 of them, for 95, 06 %, slippery floors occupy 46, 9 % of frequency among extrinsic causes of falls and the complication frequently manifested was that motility limitation; physiologic changes of higher frequency were visual, and among pathologic processes, those of the osteomyoarticular system manifested with higher frequency.
