Abstract

LUGO BATISTA, Norma  and  RODRIGUEZ RIERA, Yosvany. Incidences of the acute intoxications of the Rural Hospital of Florida. AMC [online]. 2003, vol.7, n.3, pp. 327-335. ISSN 1025-0255.

A descriptive, cross-sectional study was performed in patients with acute intoxication assisted at the rural hospital of Florida municipality, Camagüey during 2001, with the aim of identifying the incidence of them. The occurrence of intoxication cases for different causes occupies a high rate in hospital emergency services worldwide. The universe and sample were composed of 70 patients. Data were gathered in the emergency department, and taken to a formulary containing variables such as: age, sex, causes, that provoke intoxication, type of toxic and behavior to follow. These data were processed in an IBM compatible computer. The predominant group was that of 1tois years (51.4 %), (94.3 %) accidental causes, 40 % intoxication with chemical products, 82.9 % assisted in our hospital, and 17.1 % remitted to Florida municipality. Results expressed in charts.
