Abstract

MOYA ROSA, Enrique J et al. Exsanguine transfusion ¿useful in the treatment of the great burned patient?. AMC [online]. 2003, vol.7, n.3, pp. 343-351. ISSN 1025-0255.

A case-witness study performed in 94 burned patients classified as: very seriuos, critical and extreme critical admitted in the Caumatology ward at " Manuel Ascunce Domenech" Provincial Teaching Hospital Camagüey during 1998 to 1999, with the aim of knowing that value of blood transfusion as a therapeutic method in those patients. Cases were divided into two groups proportionally selected at random. The procedure was applied to the study group and the control was left without effect to compare the results. The 89,33 % was represented by the very seriuos and critical in the study group , and the 80,85 % was included among this classification in the control group. The 66,67 % of blood transfusion practiced in asymptomatic patients, were carried out from the fourth and seventh day. Out of the 38,30 % of patients that presented of generalized sepsis when the procedure was used only 19,15 % of them maintained this condition after the blood transfusion. The most frequent complication was metabolic acidosis (26 cases). Medical literatures was received and results were compared with of the other authors.
