Abstract

SARDUY RAMOS, Carlos Miguel; RODRIGUEZ PEREZ, Judit; ALVAREZ HIDALGO, Roberto  and  MACHADO GARCIA, José L. Sepsis and disseminated intravascular coagulation. AMC [online]. 2004, vol.8, n.5, pp. 129-143. ISSN 1025-0255.

Disseminated intravascular coagulation is presented in the context of numerous clinical situations, in which sepsis in the commonest, particularly that of bacterial origin. Main characteristics of the tissular factor and its participation in the beginning of coagulation during endotoxemia were analyzed. Physicopathologic and therapeutic role of protein C System in the modulation of coagulation and of the inflammatory response during disseminated intravascular coagulation for sepsis was reviewed; finally, the role of cytokines and fibrinolysis in the apparition and evolution of the disseminated intravascular coagulation picture was  examinated in details, as well as the possible therapeutic targest within mechanisms that were studied; since at present there aren't guidelines  of standarized treatment, added to the struggle against base disease.
