Abstract

GARCIA-ROCO PEREZ, Oscar; QUINTANA PROENZA, Armando; CORREA MORENO, Alfredo  and  QUINTANA MARRERO, José. Major outpatient surgery of salivary glands. AMC [online]. 2004, vol.8, n.6, pp. 28-37. ISSN 1025-0255.

An observational, descriptive and cross-sectional study to 27 patients with salivary glands affection was carried out they selected for out-patient surgery with the aim of evaluating the results of this method at Martin Chang Puga General Teaching Hospital of Nuevitas, Camagüey, from March 2000 to Sept 2002. Patients followed the hospital mechanism instituted for the treatment of their surgical pathology. The mean age was 49, 3 years and masculine sex prevailed (59, 2 %). The most frequent affections were chronic submaxillary sialoadenitis (25, 9 %) and pleomorpho adenoma of parotid (48, 1 %). The great majority of patients did not present complications (88, 9 %). There was not unexpected hospitalisation. The procedure offered a high grade of satisfaction to the patient. The economic saving to the institution was 11362, 98 in national money (NM).
