Abstract

ROSQUETE LOPEZ, Gricel; GONZALEZ VIDAL, Elsie; LONDRES FROMETA, Delfín  and  MANZANO ARROYO, Venerando. Evaluation of glycemia by the o-toluidine method. AMC [online]. 2007, vol.11, n.2, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1025-0255.

A descriptive study of evaluation of the accuracy of the glycemia by the o-toluidine method was carried out, which was compared with the enzymatic method, utilizing the oxidase glucose enzyme, from August to September 2006, at "Amalia Simoni" Hospital of Camagüey, with the objective of utilizing it as an alternative method when lacking the supply of enzymatic reagents. Curve of calibration with the solution of reference that is standardized in 100mg% (5.5mmol/l), was performed with the purpose to study at random the obtained results in both methods and to draw the 45º slope (regression lineal curve). Twenty samples of blood serum free of hemolysis and jaundice were processed, of patients to a glucose trial using both methods was performed. It was started from the null hypothesis that if existed or not relation among both measurements of the obtained glucose in both methods, for which the correlation coefficient by ranks was utilized (r), the estadigraph permitted to evaluate the existence of a measure of relation between two quantitative variables, as a conclusion of that when calculating the Spearman's correlation formula (the value was very near to one), it was given an answer to the null hypothesis that in both forms of measurement the obtained values in the employed glucose decision methods, are in relation, therefore the condensation method of the o-toluidine, simple method since the point of view of its processing or technical-analytic trial, with accessible reagents and of national production, can be carried out and in fact it is established in our assistance service, as a specific, dependable, and alternative method, that gathers the required parameters to offer a quality service to our patients and to our community in general.

Keywords : blood glucose [test]; glucose tolorance [methods].
